Certainly we have all found ourselves flat on our metaphorical backs, peering straight up into a blackened sky, with anxiety in our hearts and angst about the future. It’s in these moments when we have to decide if we are going to give up, or keep pushing forward, to persevere.

Unfortunate circumstances are inevitable. How we react to them is a choice. These words may seem like a harsh reality. But they are a reality nonetheless. In response to negative circumstances with a positive attitude, choose to rely on the hopeful truth from God’s word.

“Whether we decide to dance in the rain or not ultimately depends little on the number of leaks in our roof”. We have the God-given assurance in Romans 8:28 that it will all work out in the end to His purposes, and our faith will be perfected. I say let the roof leak anyway!

For those of us on the path of a mountainous life struggle, never underestimate the value of baby steps. Most of us just want to reach that ultimate goal, the mountain’s peak. But God is more interested in the process because it develops our character,one baby step at a time.

I decided this morning I wanted today to be better than yesterday, better than last week, & better than last year. And then I read “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up” (James 4:10). And it was indeed becoming better, not by me, but by the gift of God.

Most of us will fall, pick ourselves up, fall again, struggle to get up, and repeat the cycle many times throughout our lifetimes. As long as we are always getting up one more time than we fall, we’ll make it to where we’re going.
