@cc22report Don’t treat the symptoms treat the disease. The issue is not AT. The issue is the officiating environment that makes such behavior acceptable. I am more interested in whether the league fixes the officiating consistency than ATs suspension.
@DBGyt_ Don’t engage with the whataboutisums. It’s basic rules that flagrant 2 = ejection and if it’s called after the fact = suspension. This would only be a special circumstance if the suspension was greater than one game.
@Phlob The names that matter in the league.. Aja, Stewie, Paige etc won’t make statements naming a player. Same reason why the last person you hear from on this stuff is Caitlin herself. It’s always the no names that make statements on social media for validation.
@nosyone4 I think this is the right punishment for what happened: Flagrant 2, should have been called on the court but wasn’t and they assessed it retroactively. The real test is going to be what officiating looks like going forward.
If Paige or Azzi plays poorly and the first place you go as a sports reporter is to start questioning their love life then you unequivocally suck at your job.
I buy that it is unfair to accept the same level of information as NFL/NBA free agency and the networks/relationships might not exist. And yes the name calling for W reporters isn’t fair either.
The frustration however comes from the fact that a lot of responses have been “well here is why this work is difficult and it’s everyone’s fault (networks/fans etc).”
Take the balloons case with Nneka . I get that nobody knew she was visiting the Lynx. Yet once that became public information. The follow up was just a clarification saying “well she’s visiting multiple teams.” I don’t think it’s crazy to expect reporters to figure out which teams once that information was out.
