@FPLfrasier Amad and Lacey are two young obvious ones. Although neither are currently gtd starters and we should have more at a club like Utd with this profile.
@hugoknowsball Baleba just had an horrific season. Utterly awful. A total flop of a year. And you’re dismissing Elliot Anderson and using Baleba as one of the alternatives to burn money on. Let alone being unsure if he’s better than Mateus Fernandes 🤯
@Blxiseutd@kheengChocco You were using false claims to sneeringly make your pt. Now it’s shown those claims were wrong, you’re still suggesting you’re right 😂
You’re also comparing a v successfully Prem proven current Dutch international player, with a gamble on one transitioning after yrs in Serie A.
@ClairClair211@thejonnyross We were told Ugarte was athletic & just what we need. Fred was supposedly athletic & just what we need. And the diff between yrs in Serie A & the modern Prem is vast. JZ looks like a competition winner. Hojlund was poor. But average Prem players dropping down to Serie A look gr8.
@thejonnyross Vidic was 24/£7m & part of a record breaking Serbian def re clean sheets. CR7 was a coveted teen with huge ceiling. Schmeichel was £500k & 1st choice 🇩🇰 GK. Nothing like 3 cap 27yro Ederson for £40m in last yr of contract whose ceiling clearly isn’t sky high after yrs in Serie A.
@arghkid And if the people telling you he’ll do well e.g. Tim Vickery, were recently all-in on Ugarte being a Utd/Prem success for £50m, then your concerns would double. Relying on years in Serie A as the indicator for a player is a red flag imo. We know the diff to the 2026 EPL is vast
@arghkid I exaggerate, but if it was announced Utd signed an uncapped ‘hard working’ 27yro Argentinian from the Ukrainian league for £50m, to play CM as part of an aim to win the title in 2027, you’d not unreasonably have concerns from what you did know; even without seeing a sec of him.
@Udewalter_ Ederson is not an ‘elite start’. Huge exaggeration. You’re making the exact same assumption about him doing well and being what Utd need, as was done about the hugely failed player he’s replacing i.e. £50m Ugarte. Time will tell, but let’s not pretend we know it’s elite already.
@utdrobbo Tbf Baleba’s about as high risk as you get. Brighton want v big £ & going off last season he isn’t worth 20% of that figure. He was awful.
@meek__01 As for EPL players Mbuemo and Cuhna, a teen in his bedroom could have told the club they would be good additions. It was close to as sure a thing as is possible. Lammens is more like it re earning their money. Sesko was well known too & still not nailed on as a roaring success
@meek__01 I was highlighting you were referencing just a subset of the buys to suit your agenda by giving examples of players who go against that. And you’ve replied suggesting I’m the one ignoring the full picture 🤔
I could have included DeLigt as there were warnings re the injury risk.
@SkySportsPL The same Tim Vickery who told everyone Ugarte was what Utd needed and would be a success…? Forgive me if I don’t put too much weight behind his latest opinion.
@Leumaswazhere2 Mbeumo had ripped up the Prem. He was proven. Ederson has been decent in slower lower grade Serie A for years which has proven a poor league to recruit modern day Prem players from. Ederson is a limited player with an engine. He’s a FAR bigger gamble with less potential upside
@__scottsaunders Or, even crap Ugarte is going, which is beyond Ederson. But tbf Ederson’s nationality means it’s a bigger ask, albeit this Brazil squad is bang average by their standards. The red flag is years in lower slower grade Serie A which rarely goes well transitioning to the current Prem
