I turn 29 today.
Finally feels like the right time to stop lurking.
And actually start sharing my journey.
Quick thread on where I’ve been + where I’m headed 🧵
people that are comparing physical work and internet work
is about how they see work.
If someone came to your house and sat there for an hour doing nothing,
you’d say, “I’m not paying you for that.”
But online, you can sit around for an hour,
then do 15 minutes of focused work
that’s worth eight hours of labor.
Both are valuable.
That’s just where the disconnect always happens.
“This is the real secret of life -- to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play.”
-Alan watts
@yourealazyfvck “Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.”
The appeal of selling “no code”
It’s always easier to oversell people with no background in something,
because they think they’ll become an expert faster than it takes to learn the basics.
They’re easily impressed
but that also means they don’t know what’s broken
or what actually matters.
@KevinSzabo14 Always curious about how you handle replies
Do you just use the “for you”page or actually scroll your Following tab?
I don’t think I’ve ever used mine to be honest
Funniest thing about selling to beginners..
it’s the easiest group to oversell.
When you’re just starting out,
you always think you’ll become an expert
faster than you’ll learn the basics.
All this talk of getting paid $10k for posting a picture of a celebrity's daughter.
got me thinking about the science of viral tweets.
So I did some research. Here's what I found.
🧵
So the biggest takeaway is obvious: a larger account means more eyeballs.
But the data seems to show a path to grow
if virality is the goal.
You could start hyper-focused in a niche to get those high engagement ratios
Then slowly work your way to more broad ideas
if you’re not a billion-dollar brand, your ad has just one job - stop the scroll
most people waste time polishing transitions, filters, and editing tricks that nobody will ever see, but really all that matters is hooking the viewers attention
if you don’t hook attention in the first second, you’re invisible
i spent weeks testing every format and found what actually makes people stop scrolling - even with low-budget, ai-made ads
here’s what works best:
- the first 1 second must interrupt the brain (pattern break or emotional trigger)
- sound design is as important as visuals
- ugly, raw visuals outperform cinematic ones 90% of the time
- the hook carries the ad — not your editing
- story and pacing > polish and lighting
i put together a doc with 20 viral-tested hooks that work in any niche
like, rt + reply “HOOKS” and i’ll send it to you (must follow so i can dm)
