Biological sex matters in medicine.
Medicine is not sociology. It’s biology.
In biology, sex is real, binary, and fundamentally relevant to health, disease, and diagnosis. This isn’t controversial. It’s molecular fact. Ignoring this will misdiagnose, mistreat, and kill.
The medical community has cured a mountain of diseases in the past several decades.
Diseases cured thread🧵
In 2013, hepatitis C was cured by direct-acting antivirals.
@CiaranDanielz You’ll notice this instinct also appears in some religious traditions, where believers have anticipated the eternal punishment of sinners as part of the moral order. We should be cautious whenever justice becomes psychologically inseparable from the enjoyment of retribution.
@CiaranDanielz I agree, and acknowledge it is difficult for the victims, but one of the marks of a civilised society is that justice is separated from vengeance. Punishment may sometimes be necessary, but taking pleasure in another person’s suffering is a very different moral phenomenon.
@GR4NTH4M If sex is merely an incidental detail, then explain why homosexuality and heterosexuality exist as distinct phenomena at all.
The entire purpose of those categories is to describe attraction relative to sex.
You’re being silly 😂
@GR4NTH4M Homosexuality is organised around sex.
Heterosexuality is organised around sex.
Bisexuality is organised around sex.
Remove sex and you’ve just destroyed the conceptual foundation of all three.
Do you really not understand how this works.

@mrmatt2424@GR4NTH4M I just don’t understand what the problem with is. If he’s bisexual, just admit it and move on.
But us gay man find these bizarre attempts to redefine homosexuality around “gender”, “vibes”, or “masculine energy” is just intellectually incoherent nonsensical drivel.
@GR4NTH4M Don’t try to be condescending. You’re not good at it 😂
I’ll reiterate, my position is clear. Homosexuality is attraction to members of the same sex. I’ve explained why reducing female anatomy to “one extra hole” destroys the concept of human sexuality.
Now care to respond?
@GR4NTH4M This is such a hilariously stupid comment. That “one extra hole” is a curious way of describing an entire female reproductive anatomy. If sex is merely an incidental detail, then homosexuality and heterosexuality ceases to have any coherent definition at all.
@NormalGayPsych Agreed. As gay men ourselves the irony is that our rights were built upon the recognition that sexual orientation is not a choice.
If attraction is innate, then homosexual men are attracted to the same sex because they are homosexual men.
That is not discrimination.
@SwipeWright No. You’re not crazy @SwipeWright.
The rainbow isn’t a Pride symbol. It’s actually Isaac Newton’s intellectual property. He discovered the colour spectrum first. The chain of title is perfectly clear, sunlight, prism, Newton, everyone else 😂😂😂
A legitimate group of patients with rare medical conditions has effectively been recruited into an argument that was never about them.
A rare medical condition is not evidence for a new biological category.
@zaelefty is absolutely correct. A disorder of sexual development is exactly that - a developmental disorder occurring within one of the two sexes.
Every DSD diagnosis depends upon first knowing what male and female development normally are.
What is particularly odd is that DSDs are routinely invoked in discussions about transgender identity despite the overwhelming majority of transgender individuals having no DSD whatsoever.
