Good morning beautif-Hull, flashback to the time when Mrs Doubtfire came to @hullfair . The Doubtfire family were well known in the fairground community and were regular visitors to Hull.
Whilst I’ve definitely benefited from certain privileges in my life, I wasn’t ’born into wealth’. At the time Dad was a local newspaper journalist and Mum was a SAHM. We kept chickens, goats and grew most of our own veg. Discworld was still a long way off.
Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

There’s a 🌈
over the moors
I’m singing these words
at the back of the bus
no one can hear me
they’re all wearing
headphones
which is a shame cos
I’m in need of applause
but not to worry
I’ll soon be in Whitby
to find what treasure
Amy has left me

It may be the first of October but still the holiday balls keep on coming. Here's some stupendously shiny sunken balls all the way from Munich.
(try saying stupendously shiny sunken balls after some schnapps)
