Federal agents raided Kermit Gosnell's Philadelphia clinic expecting a dr*g operation. What they found instead made hardened law enforcement agents physically sick.

At 8:30pm on February 18, 2010, DEA agents breached the door and were immediately hit by the stench of urine and de*th.

Semi-conscious women lay in waiting rooms covered in blood-stained duvets. Fire exits had been locked shut.

Blood covered the floors. A flea-infested cat wandered through the facility. The two surgical rooms resembled, in the words of a DEA agent, "a bad gas station restroom."

Then they found the babies. A basement freezer was stuffed with the remains of at least 45 fetuses in food bags, milk jugs, orange juice cartons, and cat food containers.

A row of jars held the severed feet of aborted babies.

The grand jury report revealed Gosnell routinely performed illegal late-term abortions beyond Pennsylvania's 24-week limit.

He called his method of k*lling surviving newborns "snipping", inserting scissors into the back of the neck to sever the spinal cord. "The bigger the baby, the more he charged."

The clinic had gone uninspected by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for 16 years. Gosnell was not even a qualified obstetrician.

He was convicted of three counts of first-degree m*rder of live-born infants and one count of involuntary mansl*ughter of a patient who d*ed from medication administered by his unlicensed staff. He was sentenced to life without parole.

Gosnell d*ed in prison in March 2026, aged 85.
