Year 1 under Zach McKelvie was a "growth year" for Army, but after a full year of recruiting, he and his staff have put together a fantastic 12-player class.
With 9 of their top 10 scorers returning, #GoArmy is adding 6 new forwards to its core—part 1. ⤵️

Yesterday it was R-Day at West Point, where more than 1,200 members of the Class of 2030 began their 47-month journey at the United States Military Academy.
With that comes a new group of "plebes" for head coach Zach McKelvie and @ArmyWP_Hockey, which officially announced its 12-player freshman class.
Let’s break down the new faces arriving at Tate Rink this fall. Thread 🧵⤵️ #GoArmy

As an alum of the program, I am so disappointed in the University. Decades of hard work undone with one short-sighted decision.
As a coach who is all too familiar with having a program cut, my heart breaks for the players and staff.
Hurst Hockey Family✊🏼☘️
Both of my brothers, both successful DI hockey coaches, are products of @HurstMHockey I am also an alum of @MercyhurstU and former GA coach in the @HurstAthletics department …I have some thoughts on recent news regarding the men’s hockey program please read and share ⬇️⬇️
This was posted 24 hours before they announced they cut the program. I say “announced” because the decision was made before yesterday, and they still asked for hockey donors to give money.
Embarrassing by the Mercyhurst administration.
Feel for the players and coaches.
Only one D1 program was cut, and that was the Hockey team. Cowardice stuff.
Gutted for all the Mercyhurst players, coaching staff and alumni, who in mere seconds, just lost everything. Hope they all land on their feet somewhere else. 🙏🏻😢
Remembering Jack Riley, coach of USA hockey's first miracle in 1960 at Squaw Valley. OTD 1960, his underdog squad clinched the Gold Medal with a 9-4 victory over Czechoslovakia. Jack also coached Army for 36 years, recording only 6 losing seasons during his long tenure. Jack was inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979. #USAHockey
Army hockey netminder Larry Palmer won Gold on this team as the backup goalie...
And - of course - the team was coached by the legendary Army head coach Jack Riley...
