@MarburyBirds No problem, I think they (mainly. Scoter) are there all winter and it's only a one minute stop off A55 (at junction 22 I think). The flatter the sea is the better the views though as waves make viewing more difficult .

@MarburyBirds If you're travelling back to Marbury via the A55, and the weather is OK, do stop at Old Colwyn prom, get some magnification on the sea and be amazed by the 1000s of sea duck out there - a proper spectacle!

Caldon Canal in Endon brook valley, just 10 bird species on a wet miserable morning but including a mammoth Canada Goose count of 757 birds on field between bridges 33 and 34 - they seem to like this stretch of the canal! @Staffsbirdnews

A morning visit to Brookleys Lake, near Alton - there was a time when this was full of wildfowl, with significant nos of Mandarin duck lining the E side... but not today - just 6 Gadwall, 5 shovellor 4 cormorants, 4 dabchick, plus a few others .

A short visit to JCB Rocester North pit this afternoon -usual collection of "funnies" on the collections pool - Ferruginous Duck, R-b Goose, R-c Pochard and a few others that I've yet to name - is the spooky duck a Hooded Merg I wonder? 31 Barnacles presumably a touring flock.

A pair of Gadwall at Carmountside Flash were new for site for me @Staffsbirdnews but still no drop-in waders. Starlings food collecting busily and Whitethroat beginning to appear at last. A redpoll calling over Stanley pool was the best I could do today there.

Cheddleton valley from "The Boat" - Willow Tit, Red Kite, Green Woodpecker, 2 Common Sands, Oyc, Lapwing Goosander, 4 Sedge Warblers. The flash pool by the sewage treatment works looking good at the moment with fair bit of water and good muddy edges @Staffsbirdnews

At the Carmountside Flash area: obliging Grasshopper Warbler in grassland, also RNP, Little Egret, Teal, Raven, and Starlings busy collecting food, presume their chicks have hatched.

Some hint of wildfowl on the move today with single Wigeon at Carmountside Flash, and a single Shoveler at #StanleyPool, with both species seemingly new for their respective sites for me!

Usual slim pickings in n staffs: #StanleyPool 1 goosander, 1 metalringed LBBG.
Cheddleton STW: 36 spp inc a vaguely interesting wigeon (NFS).
Morridge : sweet sound of skylarks, nowt else.
Longsdon mill pool: stacks of snipe, loads of lapwing.

Absolutely no Goosanders at #StanleyPool this morning! Usual pair of Oystercatchers tho and found the missing GCG on the bridge pool. Plus a rather obliging Kestrel, albeit in strong sunlight

@SteveJTurner76 Coincidently I've just had a male overflying approx the garden (nr Milton) when I was in the back field on a dog walk. Think it's a "from-garden- if-I'd-been-in the-garden-at-the -time" tick. woohoo!
