The correct decision albeit a desperately sad one given the position we were in 12 months ago. I suspect everyone involved, including Slot himself, will be relieved at the news. Thanks for No.20, Arne 🏆
Liverpool FC can confirm Arne Slot is to depart his role as head coach with immediate effect and that the process to appoint a successor is under way.
He leaves with a Premier League title to his name and our deepest gratitude and appreciation.
There are no words that can do justice to honour the career that these two have had at Liverpool. The trophy haul alone almost says enough. Two of the best to ever represent the club and in the case of Mo Salah specifically, he may just be the greatest of them all 🇪🇬🏴
Fair play to Arsenal. It’s been far from a stellar Premier League season but the table doesn’t lie. They’ve been the most consistent team this year. I only hope Liverpool can find the right change this summer and ultimately win out with a better brand of football.
The Premier League have had that coming all season. Have encouraged a league built on set-pieces by letting everything go at corners all season, then decide in the most decisive game of the season they’ve probably been doing it wrong for the last eight months
Every single time you think Liverpool have beaten Everton in the funniest way possible, they manage come up with an even funnier one.
It is absolutely incredible.
6 - Liverpool have now scored six 90th-minute winners against Everton in the Premier League - the most one side has against a single opponent in the competition's history. Bragging.
Our thoughts on this significant and poignant day, as always, are with all those affected by the tragedy at Hillsborough and we pause in memory of the 97 fans who will never be forgotten.
Goals are the main source of joy in football. In that respect, Mo Salah has brought me more joy than any other Liverpool player in my lifetime.
He’s earned the right to leave on his own terms and deserves every plaudit he’ll receive between now and the end of the season.
🇪🇬👑
Liverpool played against possibly the most low confidence team in the history of the division today and managed to look weaker and more timid than them.
They are the champions, spent hundreds of millions, and are utterly miserable to watch.
It's some achievement, in a way.
If your team are 19th in the league at conceding late goals, and 1st at scoring them it means your leaving far too many games in the balance and that is because of the approach. It's not about not having fast wingers, or changes off the bench - we had those today.
Losing to a team who’ve essentially got nothing to play for is unacceptable. To do it in the exact same manner that we’ve seen all season, an abject performance followed by a comically bad goal in added time, is utterly woeful.
