Well a bottom line that every one should be able to agree on:
If CPP never needs to be subsidized (by younger gen) then why the hell did we need contribution rate hike and reform?
The original CPP was a failure, and that’s why we had the reform. Older gen once enjoyed a much lower contribution rate for the same income replacement rate as the current gen.
While it’s not the seniors’ fault, you can say it’s the government mismanaged it (or more accurately, miscalculated its sustainability), they do get subsidized pension.
He needs the treatment or he will die.
OHIP said no.
He took them to court, and won.
The province is still going to let him die.
Our healthcare system is a disgrace.
Dude, property tax is not a mean spirited tax targeting seniors, it literally existed before the confederation.
If a young family bought a house, lost their income and then couldn’t pay property tax, guess what happens? They will have to downsize as well.
The Q you should ask is why seniors need special treatment.
Okay for starter I didn’t “generically say all boomers are wealthy”, I said they are the wealthiest generation. These are entirely different statements.
2nd, income is your potential to accumulate wealth, it’s not wealth itself.
3rd StatCan literally state the same: 55-64 age group has the highest median net worth while 65+ comes second. (2023 data)

@Smileyyeg They almost certainly confused tax credit with tax deductions.
But then the retard voters in BC let these retards ruled the province for a decade…
I have no hope on democracy.
@JimboStanford@TheTyee Leftists: BC has done very well by most metrics
Also leftists: noooo you can’t cut taxes what about the deficits!
Gimme a break.
@TheChaosWeeber You would rather let Eby survive than maybe let NDP reflect on this and get a better leader?
IMO this is always good for BC in long term, as long as Eby and the current NDP is gone.
@BongSim_Psy This is very legitimate question. However I think if the voters cared about deficits, NDP wouldn’t have ruled this province for a decade in the first place. (Probably the same for LPC in federal election as well.)
Another way to think about this is, if this is tax deductions, which benefits high-income earners more than low-income earners, then the current BPA ($13216) will have the same effect too.
That’s because high-income earners always have higher marginal rate.
Tax deductions is not the same as tax credit. People making $300k will get the same credit as people making $32000.
Every single time when there’s an election, a group of people come out of nowhere showing they don’t understand how tax works. 🤦♂️
@TheChaosWeeber Vancouverites today are already federally Lib, provincially NDP and municipally Con.
Canadian lefties have always been NIMBY. (Let’s help the poor but not in where I live lol)
