STARLINK: NASA selected SpaceX to provide laser communications for the Artemis III mission.
NASA will install two Starlink mini laser terminals on the exterior of the Orion spacecraft for the Artemis III mission, scheduled for 2027.
The terminals will downlink 4K imagery and video to the Mission Control Center at NASAโs Johnson Space Center in Houston during tests in low Earth orbit.
FOur astronauts will practice rendezvous and docking with test versions of commercial human landing systems from SpaceX and Blue Origin. This supplements Orionโs existing communications system and supports NASAโs plan to return astronauts to the Moon in 2028.
