@mattyglesias Fortunately it seems the person that Platner’s team is advocating for is also quite literally the biggest electoral overperformer in the state. So he should be the no-brainer compromise pick between all factions of the party
In 2020, Maine Senate President Troy Jackson cruised to re-election, even as Trump and Collins dominated the top of the ticket. His Arostook County border district had been zooming rightward under Trump, but Jackson defied those trends and won easily.
@NateSilver538 Given that Troy Jackson is an even bigger electoral overperformer than Jared Golden is + the left likes him and won’t revolt if he’s nominated, how is he not the clear consensus pick here?

@admcrlsn Why is the NV delegation consistently the worst? I get that NV is disproportionately impacted by gov’t shutdowns and that affects the calculus behind those votes but this?
@jonfavs Pound for pound the worst Democratic congressman. He's not even in a swing district!
(Not that supporting the Iran war would even play well in a swing district, but that's another story)
@lxeagle17@admcrlsn Think you gotta use the LG race as the generic baseline, which would mean Jones underperforming by 4%. That + the sense that (agree or not) Platner's baggage is not as bad as Jones's AND Mills is also probably below replacement level at this point.
@Thorongil16 ((Talarico + Crockett votes) - (Hassan Votes)) / (County Judge votes + GOP Senate Votes) could maybe be a good proxy for November D v R votes?
Not sure if everything is in but that calculation would be 51% D which imo is reasonable
@ettingermentum He's gonna have a lotttt of people putting him in the S-Tier of potential 2028 Dem candidates once he wins his senate race by 5% this November
@ChessLiam Not when the packers have 3 TO’s and ~25 seconds left imo. The risk/reward going for 2 is nullified when the packers still have a mildly realistic chance to score in regulation. Because the Bears have to a.) convert the 2 point AND b.) stop them for getting a FG
@BengalYouTube Not when the packers have 3 TO’s. The risk/reward going for 2 is nullified when the packers still technically have time to score in regulation.
