Lawyer, husband, father. I love studying law and how it reflects priorities as a society. We should be able to discuss any issue calmly and rationally.
Interest expense on US Federal debt is now at a record 19.5% of US government revenue.
This is well above the 16.9% seen in the 2011 debt ceiling crisis.
As interest rates soar, interest is now one the US government's biggest expenses.
At current rates, within 10 years interest expense will account for 25% of US revenue.
If borrowing continued at its current pace, US debt would climb from $32 trillion to $140 trillion by 2050.
What is the long term game plan?
Check out our latest #arizona#criminallaw podcast on clergy penitent privilege. Very interesting and timely topic dealing with when a confession to clergy can be used in court and when they become mandatory reporters of child abuse.

Our investigators recovered more than $60,000 of baby formula in our investigation of an organized retail theft ring. AND more than 2,700 individual victims lost over $1.2 million in stolen SNAP benefits. It is appalling.
Tonight on #GuiltyAZCharged, we shared our first two oral arguments from the @AZCourts. Subscribe on any major podcast platform if you want to listen to the oral arguments or hear discussions about criminal law here in AZ.

Mesa also has fewer council members than other cities its size. This means we have city councilmembers in these cities representing about as many people as legislative districts. Local government should be more local.
Phoenix has one of the smallest Councils among the 15 largest cities.
Redistricting will take place this year, but expanding the Council should go to Phoenix voters soon.
@AbrahamHamadeh Law enforcement at every level must vow to NEVER get on board with some idea that fellow Americans are "extremists" or "threats" based on their vote. Ideas like that can become a janky, slippery slope very quickly.
@stephen_richer Thank you for the info! My mailed in ballot this year was flagged for a non-matching signature. Curing was relatively easy.
Do you know about what percent of signatures are found to not match thus starting the curing process?
Today is #UN International Day for #Tolerance. The #MuslimWorldLeague has made it our sacred mission to promote tolerance and today, we share this joint message from religious leaders around the world calling for mutual respect & understanding. #ToleranceDay

I know many will want to jump to the politics of it all, but I will always remember the friendship that RBG and Scalia had. They were ideological foes, but personal friends, and we could use a little more of that.
It’s a sign of our fallen world that all too many people misinterpret the presence of manners as a lack of manliness. It’s destructive to our culture and body politic that all too many people interpret kindness as a lack of conviction: https://t.co/d5tatIXkue
I love #Mesa and we have a lot of great things going on. We also need to make sure that we are not spending so much that residents can't afford to live here or that we leave future generations with too much debt. I want Mesa to be amazing for years to come. #jakebrownformesa
@EsotericQuality Thanks for reaching out. City council is actually non-partisan. We just try to keep our neighborhoods safe and clean, which isn't really partisan. That said, I am a registered Republican.
Live the Golden Rule - You see the phrase on license plates in Arizona, see what it has to do with Jake Brown, candidate for Mesa City Council. #GoldenRule#Mesa#community#service
Thanks to @BenUMesa for hosting us last night at the city council debate. It was especially fun for me since I teach there. Discussed many topics for our community including housing, business development, public safety, and finances. I love Mesa, but we can do better.
