He picked the ethnic girl which underlines his contempt for migrants and gets distracted halfway through like the act is a chore. His actions are meant to be uncomfortable. The self interest subplot that can be explored is that his business takes a hit from government seizure of his property. Which he is fine with if they will pay him full price
