▫️His 3-year record in football for the Eagles was 21-10-2 and he earned All-District honors his Senior year
▫️Was a State Champion in swimming
College: University of Arkansas
▫️Played football and his senior year was team captain and led the Razorbacks to a 9-2 record, a share of the Southwest Conference Championship, a 1960 Gator Bowl win over Georgia Tech and a final ranking of #9
Career
▫️Following graduation, Coach Switzer began his coaching career at his alma mater, serving as an assistant coach at Arkansas and helping lead the Razorbacks to the 1964 National Championship
▫️In 1966, he joined the coaching staff at the University of Oklahoma
▫️After seven seasons as an assistant, Coach Switzer was named head football coach in 197
▫️Coach Switzer led the Sooners to an extraordinary 157-29-4 record, winning at an astonishing pace while capturing three National Championships in 1974, 1975, and 1985
▫️His teams also claimed 12 Big Eight Conference Championships, dominated one of the nation's toughest conferences, and consistently ranked among the country's elite
▫️He coached 15 All Americans, many of whom went on to distinguished professional careers
▫️When Coach Switzer retired from Oklahoma, he held the highest winning percentage among active Division I football coaches
▫️After his time at Oklahoma, Coach Switzer accepted a new challenge in the National Football League as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys
▫️In just four seasons, he compiled a 40-24 record and guided the Cowboys to victory in Super Bowl XXX, becoming one of the few coaches in football history to win both a college football national championship and a Super Bowl

Final Score: Oklahoma 25, Penn State 10

In the 1986 Orange Bowl, Jamelle Holieway hit Keith Jackson in stride for a 71-yard “home run” touchdown that gave Oklahoma the lead. The play helped the Sooners defeat No. 1 Penn State 25-10 and claim the national championship.
