Might be unpopular but they need to have some sort of diminishing return on xp.
Have some soft caps per day and even per week.
Not on money, just xp.
It’s really hard for casual players who won’t unlock these things within the first week, yet I played a few hours after the wipe and already seen some people with lvl 25 driver.
We don’t need to buff xp so everyone gets op stuff faster, we need to slow the fastest people down (who will still be ahead anyway) so the first couple weeks can still feel like the first couple weeks.
My last game tonight felt like I was playing at the end of the last wipe.
The low level servers could help but it’s hard to balance for this kind of game.
If you have a level 50 cap, you could have someone with spread out levels and nothing op, and then other people only did driver/support so they still have tanks.
Ok then remove the ability to mail to your own characters and even make it so transferring through another player is bannable like buying gold.
You want gold? Gear? Consumables? Farm gold on every character.
You can’t just buy max professions and boes right? Gotta earn them.
But then you level your alt up and hit 60. Nothing came from your other character. Luckily you have a raid team in your guild that’s got the raid on farm and they are all over geared so they can carry you. Ban that too. Can’t have more than like 10% Ilvl difference between lowest and highest in raid/dungeon, including pug groups. Instance shouldn’t even let you in.
Otherwise it’s too easy right?
Might as well make sure nothing is boe anymore too. If you want crafted gear, level the profession yourself.
Or instead of all these nonsense rules, we have some of the smallest limitations, like preventing a fresh 60 from wearing a full raid set without entering a raid. and when it comes to the other stuff, people can either do self imposed challenges or just turn off transmog
I almost always choose a human as my first character. Sure, it's an RPG, but I actually like to put myself in a setting first and explore the game. I'm roleplaying as myself as if I was thrown into this fantasy world.
But I don't see the people who choose orc raiding villages, or trolls doing weird voodoo stuff, or tauren grazing a field.
This is really good for those who have one really defined main character.
Now I'm not entirely on either side. I actually think that account wide unlocks are a good thing, especially for something like a mount.
Now gear, I'm more on your side, I don't think just hitting level 60 is enough. But what if someone kills that boss on an alt and the item doesn't drop? They did as much to earn it as someone who got it on their first drop, they were just unlucky.
Personally I wouldn't even go that far. I like how I had some gear drops in the beta above level 20, I couldn't transmog my gear into those before the level cap increase because the gear I was wearing wasn't high enough. I don't know if that was based on level or item level, but item level would be a good system.
They already talked about horizontal vs vertical progression and raids will great increasingly difficult but at a slow rate. So if item levels go up even a few points at a time, your alts can't just hit level 60 and wear that gear until they have done something of a similar difficulty.
I think they are mistakenly trying to make it relevant for every single person, regardless of spec and ruleset.
But it’s okay if it isn’t perfect. Like I played a human warlock in classic, sword specialization did nothing for me.
I was actually excited for getting crit from using a sword so I could tell gnome casters to suck it when a caster sword dropped and I get prio.
But I bet they decided to change it because some priest wanted to play human and priests can’t use swords.
And that’s where the hard decisions come in, sometimes a race and class won’t be optimal together, but that’s how it is. Not everything is 100% equal. When you try to make everything equal, you get retail.
And that could become an option, but some people won't want the backup, some people will just want a death, an end of life.
And I think that should be an option for people, even if living forever is possible.
But that would be crazy for someone to do today unless they had a severe medical condition. Even if someone was 70 or 80, if they are medically well and not suffering, that's hard to take them seriously.
But in a world where everyone is medically well and able to maintain a prime age body, how will people react when someone decides they still want an end of life, with no back up.
I think as long as there were a bit more quests, especially along with the new dungeons that come out. There would just be enough XP so people don't need to visit every zone.
While I love exploration and I think there should be incentives to explore more and do more things, I don't think it should be the only way.
And people will still have the option to visit every zone if they want to. but if they don't want to go to a specific zone, they should be able to skip one.
I remember in hardcore, Un'Goro was a zone many people avoided because they didn't want to get eaten by a devilsaur right before they hit 60. And it was definitely possible, but you either had to go looking for quests or grind mobs to get extra XP if you wanted to skip an entire zone.
But they added lots of new dungeons, and some extra quests. So i'm really hoping it's enough so that I have options and leveling an alt after my main doesn't feel like the same thing on a different class.
I really hope they add more quests later too.
There isn't all that much variance for leveling if you decide to level an alt to 60. Other than the starting zones, you mostly end up following a very similar route to everyone else.
It would be nice if a 1st and 2nd playthrough, while almost certainly having some overlap, could be more unique.
Then join a guild that bans it. Get someone to make an addon that blocks all damage meters and removes the damage logs.
Because I want the damage meters. I want to compare different specs and see what is and isn't working.
And when I play hardcore, which is my favorite mode, I definitely want to see everyone's damage early in a dungeon before we get to a hard part. Because I have kicked people out of a dungeon because their dps was horrible and i'll do that to save my time and the time of other hardcore players, where low dps could cost hundreds of hours of playtime per person.
No regular guild is kicking people from dungeons and raids because they are at the bottom of the dps meter, there will always be someone in that spot. They are getting kicked because their dps makes people question whether that person disconnected for half the fight or they stared at a wall and did nothing.
@wholemars We call bad self driving robotic and good self driving human-like.
I wonder when the shift will occur and we start calling bad self driving too human-like.
Eventually, self driving will feel perfect, and doing that consistently will require robots.
Feeling under-level the first time you moves zones, so you feel you run to the nearest city, take a train, leave the next city, go to a lower level quest hub to try to find more quests isn't what i would call encouraging exploration, just poor planning. Especially since this was rarely done before hardcore.
And they already have a quest that does encourage exploration. It takes you from Stormwind to loch modan. It doesn't send you to another races first quest hub to do low level quests. and if you do that quest to explore after being done in Elwynn, you'd feel the same as going to Westfall.
also there doesn't need to be encouragement to level in another races starting zone. The option is there for people that want it, but it's not like I’m going to complain that there is no incentive for me to run to darn at lvl 10 and go quest with level 6-8 night elves. Though they added the harbor which gives us the option. Which will probably be utilised by people who want to be extra safe in hardcore.
I have no idea why so many people are against this.
Like lets pretend a factory worker is one of the people against this. If they win the lottery, do they stay at the factory? is work that important?
Also what about retirement, because I hear so many people against AI taking jobs, but humans are living longer yet most people don't want the age of retirement pushed back. They want their golden years but don't want a golden life?
And the argument that I hate the most is that AI will take all the jobs and people won't have money to buy anything. As if AI is going to increase production 10x,100x, or even 1000x and we don't give the goods to anyone. are robots growing food just to compost it? is it building smart phones just to strip them down and recycle the parts?
I believe the idea and function of money won't disappear. There will still be some sort of scarcity. So some form of UBI/UHI will be created once robots replace significant percentages of people, some things will be near free, but if you want something that's scarce, you might need to save up. There might even be some roles that people will pay more to have another human perform, so if you want to save up for a scarce good, you could still work if you want to and have that skill.
With the amount of AI advancement, whether people are fans of AI or not, it should lead to less screens.
I don't want more screens either, I want the screens that I do have to do more.
As as average AI user, not a coder or anything like that. AI has actually helped reduce my screen time. I actually eliminated the need to go on my computer for hours today because Grok Bot handled a bunch of things for me and I just kept getting updated about it.
It was at least 2 hours that I would have needed to be on the computer for, but because of Grok, it was 3-5 minutes on my phone. That's what I want AI to do for us more than anything.
@SwipeWright Yeah this is shocking.
I absolutely believe that he did something stupid and what happened to him was his own fault.
But at the same time, Human>Tiger. How is that even a discussion.
You could put someone that I absolutely hate in there and I would feel the same.
