As an investigator, this was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to witness.

In 2020, I led this investigation into a Seaboard Foods factory farm. We could hear piglets screaming in agony from half a mile away. Mother pigs were giving birth prematurely in the gestation barns. Their sick, underdeveloped babies would slip and fall into the cracks in the floor and get crushed under the weight of other pigs. Dead piglets were everywhere, some who died shortly after birth and others who were born dead. The rate of stillborn babies and premature babies was so high because of a disease we found spreading throughout the farm.

It haunts me to know that nothing has been done about the atrocities occurring in this place. It haunts me to know that people still see the bodies of pigs as “food.” It haunts me to know that violence towards animals is so normalized. Please, if you aren’t already, take action for animals. We need to stop this.
