You have a point here on the current flow of the modern wicked world. I'd wager one of the reasons the "orcs are at the gates" is because we've lowered God and exalted man. I don't think the two issues are distinct. There's no fear in the land because the church (reflective of man's sensibilities) have depicted God as though He's not to be feared.

The Scriptures teach that unless God is pleased to open the heart, then no person will believe because naturally, as a result of the Fall and our own indwelling sin, we're at enmity against God. Salvation is of the Lord. Men, on their own accord, can have a civic or legal faith, but it's not a result of the heart being made new and cannot be rested on.

Example...

Genesis 18 gives us a picture of prayer, even though Abraham is not specifically praying.

• There's persistence, trusting in God's goodness: v26

• Abraham recognizes distinction between Himself and God, thus evoking humility on Abraham's part: v27

• There's familiarity, yet great reverence: v30–32

What Abraham ain't doing is "claiming" this, and "claiming" that with an ungodly irreverence.
