@OhRichard271@PlayStation Would be nice to own what we pay for, and have options for how to buy it. Would be nice to not need to rely on an internet connection and someone else's servers to play our games.
@PlayStation Isn't this the game that @XBOX released physically and fully playable from the disc 25 years ago? Thank God I didn't pay for a revokeable license.
@PlayStation Ah, I see @PlayStation is tempting gamers to give them more money to borrow digital licenses for more games for an undetermined length of time. Nah, I'm good with the physical media I own.
@PlayStationFR Grand Turismo 3. I remember how excited I was when I got it with my PS2 for Christmas! The way the case felt, box art looked, snap sound of opening the case, putting the disc in the tray...
The tactile joy that makes these strong memories doesn't exist in a digital future.
@PlayStation Thought I entered the wrong afterlife when I saw an all digital games future for @PlayStation this morning...
But then again, my physical games worked fine. I was in heaven.
@Lancaster_1899@PlayStation They don't lose any money making physical games. Sony literally created Blu-Ray technology. Making discs and burning game data costs next to nothing. Blu-Ray drives for the consoles cost a few dollars, yet they sell the disc drive for the PS5 for $80 on their site.
@Lancaster_1899@PlayStation Over 90% of physical PS5 games have the whole game on the disc. It needs to install to the hard drive, but it doesn't require a day one download or internet authentication before playing.
@1jovahn@IGN Freedom. You still can buy physical games for PC. There are multiple competing storefronts to buy from. There is no specific hardware or operating system requirement. Some storefronts like GOG not only allow copying the full game to discs, they have guides on how to do it.
@Trollingzkov@pushsquare Shows how vulnerable Playstation is. This isn't their first major outage. And if DDoS is the cause, that makes this even worse, as they have been DDoS attacked multiple times before and a DDoS is preventable.
How are your digital games playing? My discs work perfectly.
