I speak directly to the youth: Being in the temple is one of the most important things you can be doing right now, my young friends.
Flooding the temple—the house of the Lord—with your presence is one of the hallmarks of these latter days. The gospel that has been restored in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God’s very truth.
Susan and I recently invited a crew into our home as we discussed important teachings from the Doctrine and Covenants. Here is just a small part of our discussion.
As we hear the voice of the Lord in His scriptures, we can come to know that “if [we] are prepared, [we] shall not fear” (Doctrine and Covenants 38:30).
This Easter season, we remember the Savior’s ultimate act of love and His infinite Atonement and glorious Resurrection. Because of Him, we can find joy in every circumstance, peace in our trials, and hope that lasts beyond this life. As we celebrate His victory over death, let’s also share His #GreaterLove by lifting those around us.
“Our Heavenly Father never intended that we would deal with the maze of personal problems and social issues on our own. God so loved the world that He sent His Only Begotten Son to help us.” @NelsonRussellM
In Christ, we find hope, direction, and the help we need.
In modern language, we think the word “perfect” means “to perform without errors.” Thankfully, this is not what it means in the scriptural context. Thanks to God’s grace, we can be perfected in Him.
Susan and I recently invited a primary class to plan and participate in a service project together. As they shared their process with us, we were impressed with their thoughtfulness and preparation. They are shining examples of following the Savior Jesus Christ and serving others with love.
On February 14, 1853, a groundbreaking ceremony in Salt Lake City began a 40-year journey of faith and sacrifice, culminating in the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple in 1893.
A current and comprehensive renovation to strengthen this sacred house of the Lord for future generations is now nearing completion.
Today, exactly 172 years after the groundbreaking ceremony, I am delighted to announce that the temple will reopen for tours during a public open house from April to October 2027.
We warmly invite our friends to come and learn about God's plan for His children and rejoice in the love of Jesus Christ. Details about this event will be shared as April 2027 approaches.
As houses of the Lord now dot the earth, I invite you to cherish your time and service at the temples closest to you as we prepare for the reopening of the Salt Lake Temple in 2027.
Revelation from God is not always received at the times or in the ways we might expect.
Sometimes our prayers are answered quickly with the outcome we hope for. Sometimes our prayers are not answered in the way we hope for, yet with time we learn that God had greater blessings prepared for us than we initially anticipated.
When the Lord answers yes to our petitions, it gives confidence. When the answer is no, maybe it is to prevent error. When the Lord withholds an answer, maybe it is to have us grow through faith in Him, obedience to His commandments, and a willingness to act on truth.
Heavenly guidance is a reality, but it is important to understand that it comes in the Lord’s way and according to His timetable.
When we refer to the temple as the house of the Lord, we focus more purposefully on our Savior Jesus Christ. We focus on our covenants, which connect us to Him and our Heavenly Father.
Never forget: you are in the hands of the Lord.
In my professional career and service in the Church, I know I have been guided by the Holy Ghost to where the Lord wants me to be.
This applies to all of us. Heavenly Father loves each of you and wants to guide you on the right path.
