Carroll County schools are joining the Central Maryland Conference, starting in 2027-28, per FCPS.

That brings the total number of schools in the CMC (Frederick, Carroll and Washington counties) to 23, and Clear Spring is in for some sports as well.

There will be a renewed focus on competitive balance, based on enrollment and athletic success. So, divisions could roll over and change every two years based on those factors.

High school coaches should NOT care if the opposing team is coached by Nick Saban, Bill Belichick, Kirby Smart, or one of the Ryans; we are not playing against coaches; we are playing against teenage boys.
What the coaches know does not matter. What matters is what they can convey and engrain in their players' minds. I cannot tell you how many times an opposing coach said they had us figured out. I often responded, “I am sure glad you weren’t playing.”
Your tendencies are not a weakness but a strength when used to your advantage. Embrace them, be aware of them, and be prepared to go against them to your advantage when Buddy Ryan, on the other sideline, thinks he has you figured out.
Do not go against your tendencies unless necessary, or you know you have the defense where you want them. It is challenging for even the best coaches to prepare for things they have not yet encountered or seen on film. When an opposing coach believes they have figured out your tendencies, they think they have a handle on your offense. When you break from your tendencies, it disrupts their sense of control and may prompt them to react negatively, leading to mistakes and overreactions. Psychologists call it psychological reactance.
