Job hunting has gotten so backwards that 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀.
Dubbed "reverse recruiting," job seekers are paying fees, monthly retainers, or even 𝟭𝟬%+ 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘆 just to get in front of a hiring manager.
That's because 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀.
And the average search time? About 6 months, according to December federal data.
To help in the hunt, 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿.
It's less about vanity and more about survival.
𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗷𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝟭𝟯𝟯% 𝗬𝗼𝗬.
Prospective mid-career workers are reporting hundreds of applications before interviews appear, if they appear at all.
But the market itself isn't discriminating.
𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗸 𝟯.𝟯% 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝟮%, per the Labor Department.
So workers are staying put and companies are scared to commit.
It's leaving us in a feedback loop from hell where low employment and even lower mobility are kneecapping job hunters.

➦. Myth
ChatGPT is going to replace copywriters, content markers, and anyone who does a lot of writing for a living.
➦. Reality

Sleep deprivation kills compassion.
Without sleep, we can’t process emotional information. The parts of our brain where we feel empathy don’t work as well. If we look at MRI scans of people after a night of no sleep, they have far less activity in empathy parts of the brain.
@basicallybari This is great for shoppers that may have kids with them or are on the go. My only question would he in regards to weight distribution. Could the drink go in the middle instead?
