CAR-T cell therapy for my Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma in 2022: my little trained T cells did the big job of killing the blood cancer in 28 days. In the background was Lupus: diagnosed >30 years ago, kept under control by azathioprine, now DS-DNA at 20, no treatment needed. 🙏

Good to hear blood cancer raised in the House of Commons by @steveyemm during yesterday’s debate on the experiences & outcomes of young people with cancer.
Each year, over 680 children & around 630 teenagers and young adults between 15 & 24 are diagnosed with blood cancer.
Great to see this piece now live on BBC Look North, following their recent visit to Field Lane Primary School.
This feature highlights the partnership between Field Lane and Highbury School, where a mainstream primary school is working alongside specialist provision to support children with additional needs locally.
At Polaris Multi-Academy Trust, we’re proud to have led the development of this approach, working in partnership with Calderdale Council to respond to growing demand for SEND provision.
A great example of what can be achieved through collaboration, creating real impact for children, families, and staff.

We were pleased to welcome the @BBCLookNorth to Field Lane Primary last week to capture the partnership between Field Lane Primary School and Highbury Special School.
Field Lane Primary School is a mainstream primary school, now working alongside Highbury’s specialist provision on the same site. Together, we are supporting children with additional needs to learn and thrive alongside their peers within their local community.
A great opportunity to showcase the positive impact of collaboration across our schools, with Polaris Multi-Academy Trust working alongside @Calderdale
Keep an eye out, the feature will be on TV soon
Great to see our Haematology and TYA CNS being celebrated today on national cancer clinical nurse specialist day. You're all fabulous and support our patients so well 👌 👏
The Rare Cancers Bill has received Royal Assent and is now law.
I am proud to have supported this Bill through every stage in Parliament, and to have served on the Bill Committee.
The Act will improve rare cancer treatment by enhancing data-sharing and requiring public reporting on access to life-saving orphan drugs, offering new hope to patients and families.
For too long, those affected by rare cancers have faced fewer treatment options, less research investment and limited access to clinical trials. This is a vital step towards changing that, driving research and ensuring rare cancers are treated with the urgency they deserve.
Good politics changes lives. The best politics saves lives.

We’re also grateful to @DrScottArthurMP for bringing forward the Act and for working closely with cancer charities to ensure it addresses the challenges faced by people diagnosed with a rare cancer.
We’ve proudly supported the Act throughout its journey in Parliament and are thrilled to see it become law.
Thank you to everyone in our community who wrote to their MP asking them to support the Act, your voices truly made a difference. ♥️
The Rare Cancers Act 2026 will help drive better research, improved data collection and greater access to clinical trials for people affected by rare cancers, including some blood cancers.
