Ya darn tootin! I’m registered for all of it! Looking forward to the session on community colleges. Check out the session leaders here: https://t.co/E2Fm46bxM2 and register here: https://t.co/ltyqacVGrq
Today’s students are more diverse and have a variety of lived experiences that are forcing institutions to change and adapt to evolving needs. Today’s students are DEMANDING equitable policies and greater investment in their future. #TodaysVoicesTues
For the better! 🥳 WE WANT CHANGE. We know the system isn’t designed for our success and we will fix it! More inclusivity and accessibility throughout all aspects of higher Ed and the workforce #TodaysVoicesTues
We will be able to find those Missed Connections 😉 and make higher education and the workforce more equitable for the generations after us with the work that we’re putting in now! #TodaysVoicesTues
More than 30% of jobs in the US today require an associate's degree, and another 35% require a bachelor's degree! As you can see, getting a degree is more important than ever, which is why we need to make sure that higher education is accessible to all! #TodaysVoicesTues
Chile 65% of future jobs will require higher education, but only 39% of Texans have earned a college degree or workforce credential. Degrees or credentials is more important than ever! We got work to do! #TodaysVoicesTues
I think they are important, but not in the sense the used to be. They are needed for more and more jobs today, but they “mean” less…it’s crazy bc the sentiment is “it’s just a piece of paper” but at the same time it has now become almost critical to getting into the workforce
Important but not as vital as it once was. There’s so many new industries, and opportunities that students can dive into that if they decided not to pursue their degree they could definitely find alternatives. BUT IF U CAN DEFINITELY DO #TodaysVoicesTues
At my institution there are some programs revolving a food bank that has been helpful, as well as different grad assistant programs that I’m hoping to utilize in the future!!! 🤔 #TodaysVoicesTues
@YoungInvincible Well I mean living under Imperialist White Supremacist Cis- Heteropatriarchy is generally stressful af! But things like food and housing insecurity really impact students, as well as the mental health impacts of being a first gen and low income student. #TodaysVoicesTues
Some of the "hidden costs" of college include textbooks, rising rent rates, transportation, food accessibility, and mental/physical healthcare! A lot of conversations around higher ed focus only on tuition, but there is so much more on today's students plates #TodaysVoicesTues
Honestly…everything! Family history, mental health, finances, that’s why it’s so difficult bc everything in your personal life has the potential to alter your education and the cost of your education!
