My favorite theory we discussed was the media multiple theory. This was really interesting to me because I really do feel that the more connection I have through technology with someone the stronger my relationship is with that person. #UTcommtheory
@queernamehowiee I totally agree that our privacy on social media is a huge issue in our society! The fact that our social media algorithms know more about us then most of the people in our lives feels wrong.
@tabuabsicomm I definitely agree that we set the agenda ourselves more now then in the past but as you said the media still tells us what to care about which ends up deciding what’s “news”
I think agenda setting theory is definitely still relevant. Social media is the main “news” source for many young people, because of this it’s easy for influencers and people of power to influence our beliefs and behaviors by sharing their own thoughts and opinions. #UTcommtheory
@OpferAaron I am also a huge football fan and I love the joy it brings to my life!! I am a lions fan at heart but I do like the dolphins especially their coach Mike Mcdaniel.
Someone I have a parasocial relationship with is Aiden Hutchinson. He played for Michigan before being drafted to the lions in 2022. I am a huge Lions fan and an even bigger Michigan fan so I was so excited when he was drafted making my love for the lions stronger! #UTcommtheory
@julioooramirez That’s actually crazy that they have the worst customer rating of any company yet so many of us still use them! I have had lots of problems with them in the past though so I definitely believe this.
An interesting fact about amazon is that it was originally called Cadabra as in abracadabra. Jeff Bezos lawyer told him that the magic reference was too obscure and sounded to much like cadaver so together they came up with amazon after the worlds largest river #UTcommtheory
When posting on social media you have to take into consideration how different people may react to your post. Some things I post my friends like but my if my parents or grandparents saw it they would not approve. #UTcommtheory
@aallanutrocket1 I totally get this! I work with little kids so I am always very hesitant to post things because I don’t want parents to see my post and worry I am not fit to take care of there kids even though I am a 22 year old college student that likes to go out!
@aaliyahpls This is a great example! During the pandemic there was tons of misinformation being spread and since we were all so on edge most people believed whatever they heard or read which caused for more misinformation to be spread.
During the pandemic we couldn’t see loved ones as much as we would like so we resorted to communicating with them online. This was a positive during the lockdown as it keep us safe, but now people are choosing to communicate online rather then face to face. #UTcommtheory
@utmeganmariucci This is a great example! Even though you all come from different backgrounds you respect and value each other’s history which makes working together much easier and more enjoyable.
Growing up in a small town I engaged in a lot of nonassertive separation. I had mostly the same friends from kindergarten until senior year because we all “stuck to our own”. The town is so small that my mom is still friends with most of her friends from high school #UTcommtheory
@lilymfreese This is a great example that I am sure we all do! I know i definitely act differently through my social media accounts then I do in person with friends or family.
This GIF shows agent Morgan from criminal minds losing face while he’s listening to someone talk about something while trying not to judge them to their face! #UTcommtheory
@julioooramirez I also respond best too participation because everyone who is involved in the decisions outcome should have the right to help make the decision.
When it comes to decision making I respond best to participation. It’s important that everyone who is effected by the decision should have an equal say in the decision. I often ask for help when making decisions even if that person isn’t effected by it’s outcomes. #UTcommtheory
An organization that could use a culture shift is factory’s that release toxic chemicals and waste into the air, water, and soil. They are killing the planet just because it’s cheaper for their business to dump this stuff rather then safety disposing it somewhere. #UTcommtheory
@acherry333 This is a great example! I totally agree that advertising models of all sizes and shapes would help make consumers feel better while shopping there and it would probably bring more people into the store because it helps promotes body positivity which is really important.
