The devil is in the details. Let’s say a Chinese company sells shoes directly on Amazon, TEMU, SHEIN and ALI BABA.

And they sell the same shoes to US importers , who add their own brand and sell on Amazon

The Chinese company will sell to its subsidiary Company, that retails and delivers products in the USA, on all of those apps for much less than they sell to the American company

Because they sell to themselves for a lower price than to the US company , they pay a lower tariff. So they have a huge pricing advantage.

So the Tariffs give the Chinese company an advantage over the American companies that import their products.

And just about every Chinese company does this. So switching manufacturers doesn’t remove the problem.

There needs to be cost parity after tariffs are applied.

This is not true. Ukrainian drone operations are formidable to the point that the U.S. military is learning from them. Ukraine, without a navy of its own, has effectively defeated the Russian Black Sea fleet.
