Now-former Leaf Brandon Carlo says the Maple Leafs’ locker room leadership last season, in terms of vocal leaders, was “delegated throughout the group,” but some of the main voices in the room were Jake McCabe, Morgan Rielly and Auston Matthews:

“I think it was more delegated throughout the group, but there were definitely some voices. I felt like Jake McCabe was very well respected within that room and would speak up quite a bit. Morgan Rielly as well. I think he’s one of those guys.

And Auston, It’s more so just when he does say something, everybody listens. It’s not like he’s gonna be harping on you every single time, but when he does speak up, you know, the whole room’s gonna listen. He’s your captain, amazing player, amazing person, and he’s definitely one of those guys.”

This was actually a great bit of broadcasting in main event yesterday.

For announcers - after a big moment silence is your friend. Allow the gravity of the moment to sink in and let the crowd take the story.

In tight for the One Winged Angel + kickout w/Ospreay+Omega in the center of the shot.....silence...pause....pull back to wide shot on the jib and let the crowd carry the moment.

Not smothering the moment with sound was the right call, allowing it to breathe.
