"If you believe you are going to be lucky, you go about your business with a smile, take disaster with a smile, start afresh with a smile. To do that is to be in the way of happiness." ~A.A.Milne #StPatricksDay

It’s an important day in the Celtic calendar. It’s Imbolc (from the old Irish, ‘i mbolg’ - ‘in the belly’). Traditionally, the first day of spring and St. Brigid’s Day. A good day for giving thanks and finding peace in nature.
"The car swung into the lane, which was no more than a sandy track, well rutted by the wooden, iron-rimmed wheels of farm carts. In winter the ruts filled with water and we sloshed as well as bumped. I loved it. It was a proper country lane." ~C.R.Milne
"I came out early, oh, ever so early. Nobody was up, the birds weren't up and even the sun wasn't up. And everything was so still that there was no sound in all the world, except just the wind in the willows, whispering ever so gently."
~A.A. Milne #peace
“It snowed last year too: I made a snowman and my brother knocked it down and I knocked my brother down and then we had tea.”
~ Dylan Thomas,

Peter Brook always undertook the occasional commission, such as ‘Sheila Halstead’s’ on Syke Lane in Ogden. The collector, with what looks like a Christmas tree, is seen in the window, under which for a change a cat takes pride of place. (Sold at Halifax Mill Auctioneers in 2022)
On Lancashire Day here’s a Peter Brook from one of his occasional forays onto the ‘other’ side of the Pennines. ‘Proctor’s Farm - Walls and Trees in Snow’ is from a series of some 40 paintings from the 1980’s featuring the Trough of Bowland. (Sold at Hartleys Auctioneers in 2010)
"... he thought of the years lost between them and how lovely she was, how infuriating she could be, but how lovely she was, how painfully lovely."
