The average property tax bill in Wake County rose by over 40% this year! What are your tax dollars funding? Lots of spending, including $300 million per year to service the county’s debt. With no end in sight, enough is enough.
It’s time to provide stability to seniors, families, and those on fixed incomes by permanently caping Wake County property tax increases. We need to roll back spending and reduce debt to ensure Wake has a bright economic future. Finally, we need to prioritize our first responders to keep our residents safe and secure.
These will be my priorities as your District 6 Wake County Commissioner. You can learn more at https://t.co/midgDHSLKI
@nckhui You know it's bad when the board members are starting to voice the frustrations that so many parents, from the other side of the isle, have spoken about for years...
@CMS_SpecialBrew@nckhui They spent the temporary COVID funds on permanent staff positions...I was in the room for the budget presentation when they announced they were heading for a "fiscal cliff" when funds ran out...
Now they consistently ask the County Commissioners for ~$25-50 million more per year
@nckhui Is that all? 🙄 Just one time, I'd like them to just say exactly how much money they need to get WCPSS "fixed" to where they want it. Just put out a hard, per year number. Then we'd all know, but they won't because there is no number.
@HattieMags@nckhui 2022, budget presentation...the words "Fiscal Cliff" were used because they were creating permanent positions with temporary COVID funds. 🙄
This is how they operate. Create permanent spending with temporary funds. When the funds are running out, scream "fiscal cliff" and ask the County Commissioners for tens of millions more in the next budget. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Wake County school board members are questioning why they weren't alerted sooner about the special ed fiscal cliff that's causing staff to propose eliminating 130 teaching positions.District using grant funds to pay recurring positions but says carryover funds running out. #wcpss
@nckhui Interesting. Kinda how they created permanent positions with temporary COVID funds and then warned of a $50 million "fiscal cliff" when those funds were ending.
I'm having flashbacks of my 2022 campaign...🙄
In 6-1 vote, Wake County Board of Commissioners approves budget giving school board $40.3 million funding increase. It's $5.3 million more than proposed by county manager by increasing property taxes & cutting funding from housing & new EMS positions. #wcpss#nced#wakepol#ncpol
Hey @WCPSS, locking all the doors during the day doesn't do much if the kid walks the gun into school in the morning. Get serious about entrance security.
Congratulations to @Vote4Shinica . We'll be praying for her leadership on the Wake Board of Commissioners. Huge thanks to the many volunteers and the 44,147 folks who entrusted me with their vote. It was an honor to represent you in this election.
