A massive fire tears through a Staten Island warehouse, sending flames into the sky and threatening a historic church featured in the iconic 1972 film "The Godfather."

More than 200 firefighters and EMS personnel rushed to the scene as strong winds sent burning embers flying toward nearby buildings. The warehouse roof collapsed, but crews managed to stop the flames from reaching the church.

One firefighter suffered a minor burn injury.

The church survived a devastating fire before. See its remarkable history and how firefighters saved it again: https://t.co/rJwSPSlC1B

This infuriates me!!

Harrison Hall. Just 14. Year 9. School camp. Chest pain. Cardiac arrest. Dead. 💔🕊️

He had pericarditis. Inflammation around the heart. Canberra Hospital, 19 September. They said he was coming good. Eating. Walking the ward. In good spirits. Discharge was being talked about.

Five days later he was gone.

Fourteen. A school camp. A heart. And the write-up still reaches for “tragic” like this is weather.

It isn’t weather. Children are having cardiac arrests and the language has already been softened so nobody has to flinch. Rare. Unexpected. In good spirits, then dead.

A boy that age should not know what pericarditis is. A ward should not be planning his discharge on a Monday and his funeral by the weekend.

They normalised it. That’s the part that should make you angry. Not the adjective. The shrug.

On September 11, 2001, Islamic terrorists carried out a cowardly attack and murdered nearly 3,000 Americans.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who ran toward the danger, and the families who still carry that loss.

We will never forget.

Today, among thousands of people crossing the Mackinac Bridge, I watched two firefighters in full gear running that bridge carrying flags.✨🇺🇸✨
And something about it hit me differently.
Carrying the weight of their gear, carrying those flags and carrying something much bigger than either.
A reminder, there are people who willingly carry heavy things so the rest of us don't have to.
It honestly did something to my heart.
We get so caught up in arguing,
complaining, judging, and worrying about things that won't matter someday.

This is K9 Valor. He saved 47 soldiers. He survived a suicide bomber, then went on to stop three more, fighting tooth against knife. In the end, he placed himself between an explosion and his handler.

The blast shattered half his face. He lost his left eye and ear. He was flown to Germany, where surgeons worked to rebuild his jaw.

At the Pentagon, he was honored with a standing ovation that lasted over eight minutes.

A true American hero🇺🇸

Dr. Fauci could be facing criminal prosecution after his shockingly sparse testimony on Capitol Hill.

Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment a whopping 111 times during his COVID hearing, refusing to answer lawmakers' questions about his handling of the pandemic and public health history.

After hours of refusals, Sen. Rand Paul announced the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will vote next week on a resolution to hold Fauci in contempt of Congress, arguing his pardon from former President Biden means he cannot invoke the Fifth Amendment for matters covered by it.

Harvard researchers have identified lithium depletion in the brain as a key driver of Alzheimer’s disease, opening the door to low-dose lithium treatments that may prevent or even reverse memory loss.

For decades, scientists have sought the exact mechanisms that convert brain abnormalities into the progressive cognitive decline seen in Alzheimer’s. A major new study from Harvard Medical School suggests that lithium — a naturally occurring element essential for maintaining neuronal health and protecting against aging — plays a central role.

The researchers found that as toxic amyloid plaques accumulate, they bind to and deplete the brain’s natural lithium reserves. This depletion helps explain why some individuals with significant plaque buildup never develop full dementia: their lithium levels may remain sufficient to provide ongoing neuroprotection.

To overcome this issue, the team screened lithium compounds and identified lithium orotate, a form that largely evades capture by amyloid plaques. In mouse models of Alzheimer’s, low-dose lithium orotate, administered at levels roughly 1,000 times lower than those used for psychiatric conditions, reversed key disease pathologies, reduced plaque and tau accumulation, restored synapses, and fully recovered memory function, even in older animals with advanced disease. Importantly, this treatment showed no signs of the kidney or thyroid toxicity associated with higher-dose lithium therapies.

While human clinical trials are still needed, the findings raise the possibility that routine lithium screening and early supplementation could transform how Alzheimer’s is prevented and treated.
