My main takeaway from this course is I have a better scope on how rapidly the times change because of technology. Everything is evolving and it is important for us to be able to adapt into new situations and thrive.

@EmmaGaribian Companies suck in as much information as they can about their users and then spit back things that are created for them to keep them on the platform. It isn't because they care about them and want to tailor their experience, they want money. Great topic

@anna_maitland Hashtag activism is great for spreading a message. It may not necessarily create the support, but it allows for the opportunity because more and more people are aware of the cause.

@JustinAnno1 I also agree that cultural jamming should be talked about. It plays a huge role in social activism because it can create a super strong backing or just support that appears strong

When it comes to digital activism there is definitely strength in numbers. But Morozov said “my hunch is that people often affiliate with causes online for selfish and narcissistic purposes” (Carr 2012) because it is very easy to just hop into a trend without awareness

@fee_lizzie Social media skills are kind of a necessity for us. It can keep you updated on the newest and most important things going on in the world. Word travels fast and if you want to keep up, social media is a great thing to use.

@maddie_jdcim I would say social media is definitely disruptive when overused. And nowadays you almost can't escape it. However, it has many positives so it all depends on the situation.

@mike_vargas14 This is a great stat because people don't realize how new computers really are. And the fact we've advanced them this far in such a short period of time is crazy.

One concept I want to explore is the way that the MarketWatch reading from week 3 shows how companies were able to adapt during this pandemic. Global online retail orders have grown 146%. Adaptation is key for survival and we have to be willing to accept change.

@krishna_dcim Obama definitely has a strong presence and influence over his followers. Even after he left the White House he still proves to be a figure many people admire. He uses this presence to continue his mission to better America.

@DanielThiberge Using Twitter to announce things and clarify facts has proven to be very effective for companies. A solid social media presence whether it's from a team or specific person can go a long way.

@bahlangelina@KamalaHarris Social media presence is a huge factor in American politics these days, especially when the presidency is involved. However a strong presence does not necessarily mean a good presence, so it is still important to understand how to use it.

@kat_schug Facial recognition is used for so many different things, crime being an important one. But what about how it could potentially be used for payment. It already unlocks our phones so why not be able to pay with it. Just another thing for you to talk about!

@rugrossinichol1 I also noticed that a lot of people have started putting out podcasts but never realized how entertaining they can be. So easy to just pop on in the background. Don't need to focus too hard but keeps the brain engaged.

@JustinAnno1 I personally don't think we have scratched the surface of the potential of VR technology. It is still too new and expensive for it to be widely explored and experienced. But I do think it will become more and more relevant as research continues.

Governor Murphy has a strong digital presence. His Instagram is constantly providing updates on current New Jersey situations. This displays competency in the communication area because he is always keeping those who follow informed.

My EDTP is going to be based around Venmo and its impact on monetary transactions on a daily basis. It's become common to say "Just Venmo me" due to its convenience. It wouldn't be so crazy to say cash could be obsolete, although we probably won't see it.

@xingwentao369 Privacy concerns is one of those things where some people care more than others and that's fine. They can choose to not use the app. But the convenience of not having to worry about an ATM, cash, or card is amazing. With a few taps you can get the same job done.
