Spurs Culture:
Integrity, Caring, and Success
The 2026 Spurs Team embodies their virtues and it shows across the board.
Couldn’t be happier about a finals matchup after watching the game 7 performance and I think the basketball community agrees.
I watched AAU basketball all weekend.
I left with bad news for most players:
Too many are building highlight reels before they’re building winning habits.
The game ends. They lose. And before they’ve watched film or owned what needs to change…
The post is already up.
The highlight clip.
The posed photo.
Everyone wants exposure.
But exposure doesn’t fix bad shot selection.
It doesn’t make you defend.
It doesn’t teach you how to impact winning.
The camera should document the work.
It shouldn’t become the reason for the work.
Players — take a look at the colleges sitting on your baselines watching you. Those are the programs making the effort to evaluate you, and they should absolutely be colleges you’re considering in your recruitment process. 📍
Things I wish I knew as a High School Hooper before playing college ball:
- Find ways to impact the game without scoring/provide value
- 6’6-6’8 centers can absolutely dominate at the next level
- JUCO NAIA DII DIII are all great opportunities
- Your multiple wide open layups a game won’t translate
- Dimensions & Statistics don’t equal play style (Outside of advance statistics/Synergy)
- A coach that believes in you can change your entire career as a basketball player
