Amid the NBA’s string of early-season injuries, the Philadelphia 76ers have applied for a disabled player exception, per source, in respect of Ariel Hukporti’s torn Achilles.

The analogy is great. But the “he has a great PR team,” is gold.

[Kris Rhim @krisrhim1]

Jaylen Brown on Jayson Tatum: “It’s no beef, but it might be little lamb chops and some gravy, you know what I mean?

“He should stay ready at all times.”

@brohrbach You’re making me blush at this wedding.

[Ben Rohrbach @brohrbach]

Really smart piece, again, from Jake

[Jake Fischer @JakeLFischer]

@GrantLiffmann They have a lot of value as trade currency… and then also just get traded sometimes on draft night for cash? Hard to pin down what exactly they’re worth right now…

[Jake Fischer @JakeLFischer]

How many second-rounders would your team need to absorb $7.5 million in salary? Did our best to explore a wrinkle of the NBA’s trade market, after learning of talks on Monday that fell short of completion.

The @JakeLFischer Latest takes you inside some recent trade discussions on a deal you haven't heard about and which ultimately collapsed earlier this week ... and what those talks and the outcome tell us about the NBA's spending landscape.

The season has legit started: Who He Play For is on soon.

Have a feeling Ernie will STILL ask Chuck about Garrett Temple ... who's now a Mavericks assistant coach.

Sean Pedulla is also in the mix for Sacramento’s open two-way spot, along with Dalton Knecht, as we reported on today’s @BleacherReport stream. Sounds like Micah Peavy, Knecht and Pedulla are under consideration for several overlapping teams, including Toronto for all three.

[Marc Stein @TheSteinLine]

I’m told former Rockets two-way guard Sean Pedulla has also cleared waivers and is fielding fresh interest on a two-way pact elsewhere.

[Jake Fischer @JakeLFischer]

The Jazz are signing Kobe Bufkin, per source, to Utah’s newly-opened two-way slot.

Another name I've heard the Kings have called about acquiring before today's roster cut-down deadline: Milwaukee guard Kevin Porter Jr.

[Jake Fischer @JakeLFischer]

The Kings are considering point guard reinforcements, sources say, after the sudden loss of Ben Simmons to a season-ending Achilles tear during practice on Sunday.

The Grizzlies are actively trying to find a new home via trade for Walter Clayton Jr. before today's 5 PM ET roster cutdown deadline, league sources tell @JakeLFischer and me, with Sacramento emerging as a possible destination.

We almost went the whole week in the NBA without a single rookie scale extension. Then Oklahoma City and Cason Wallace got their deal done just now AND gave us the perfect spark for the latest Late Night NBA Intel.

@FeelLikeOBK Correct.

[Jake Fischer @JakeLFischer]

The CBA has a little rule that prohibits any team from waiving a player with a guaranteed salary north of the full Exhibit 10 amount (91K for 2026-27) and re-signing on a two-way. That player can’t even join said team’s G League affiliate. This would prohibit Kris Murray, in theory, from being waived and re-joining Twitter’s beloved Grizzlies, as another example, on a 2W.

[Marc Stein @TheSteinLine]

UPDATE: A much smarter salary cap expert just corrected me.

Moussa Cissé's $2.2 million contract for this season is not only guaranteed but too high a figure for Dallas to waive him and re-sign him to a two-way.

So Cissé is ONLY two-way eligible this season with other teams.

[Molly Morrison @mollyhannahm]

did a very exciting work thing!!!

getting to write and narrate The Run for @BleacherReport has been amazing, and helping tell the story of this year’s Knicks championship run alongside KAT was especially cool.

watch Karl-Anthony Towns walk through the Knicks’ entire title run on B/R’s YouTube channel! he did an incredible job capturing the magic of the moment and reminding us why we love sports.

[Jake Fischer @JakeLFischer]

@ClutchLikeMac11 Huge difference between actively attempting to do something versus gauging the value other teams have for a player who’s facing an extension.

[Jake Fischer @JakeLFischer]

All of last night’s notes are here: https://t.co/0cEDmFtv0s

Where you can read we didn’t report Memphis is “looking to” trade GG Jackson. Any aggregation stating the Grizzlies have done anything other than explore the trade market is disingenuous.

[Marc Stein @TheSteinLine]

On a rather significant sports night in Milwaukee ... we can add that the Lakers and Bucks have held some exploratory trade talks.
