Sorsby is not a degenerate gambler. Not even close. He didn’t even bet 1/10 of his income & went to rehab to try to avoid being ineligible. Poor decision maker? Absolutely. If an NFL team thinks he can play, they should draft him.
The NCAA says Brendan Sorsby's college career should end for betting on his own team's games.
According to court filings, the NCAA argues no major U.S. sports league has allowed an athlete who bet on their own team to continue competing. https://t.co/p5AQZQ5eVz
@jackrd25@RandyLaheyed I agree. If an NFL team thinks he’s good enough, they will draft him. Sorsby really missed out on that 5 million from Texas Tech & that’s what drove this whole thing because he’s not getting that in the NFL.
@jackrd25@RandyLaheyed I don’t think it was about fitting that category. Sorsby/his agent thought going to rehab would help preserve his eligibility. They were obviously wrong.
@RandyLaheyed@jackrd25 True degenerates lose their rent or mortgage. He is not close to that category. He bet crazy things for sure, but nothing he couldn’t afford to lose.
@JasonWa88766117@Smitttyg30 Fair enough. I don’t think Sorsby is that good of a QB, so I wouldn’t draft him regardless. I didn’t know that was the full Dekkers story & that’s pretty messed up.
@JasonWa88766117@Smitttyg30 The biggest single bet I saw in the report was $1,000 on Cincinnati basketball. I think he did that 3 times. Those were the big ones I saw.
@JasonWa88766117@Smitttyg30 He was betting $5. Peanuts. Poor decision maker? Absolutely. He should not play college football again. I would not be concerned about him betting his own sport again. Is he good enough to play in the NFL? We’ll see. I don’t think so.
