One more point on the magnitude of the scheduling bias here: the Home Division Game Sunday/Road Division Game Thursday has happened 31 times since 2008. There are 32 teams in the NFL. An even distribution would be about 1 time per team in 18 years, or around 3% per team.

The Steeler have done it 4 times, accounting for 13% of all instances. There are 4 teams who have never had to do it in the last 18 years.

They also own 100% of the instances of being on the road for both divisional games on a short week.

Also, the Steelers are 5-0 on Sunday but just 1-4 on Thursday in these instances. It's really an unfair advantage to the home team when this happens, especially in a highly physical division like the AFC North.
