@DanRafael1@FelixTrinidadJr I helped create that poster! One of my first collabs with HBO graphics team (our company was their pre-press and print service) while we were all under Time Warner banner.
Not sure what’s happening at B-Scene (I left a few weeks ago for my own reasons). But getting rid of your top editor along with nearly the entire U.S. team doesn’t bode well for the site’s future.
Last day at @BoxingScene was unexpected and obviously bittersweet, but we had an excellent run featuring one of the best collections of boxing journalism talent you'll find under one roof. Appreciate all my teammates and their superb work over the past two years.
@JustinHicksINC@laizar27 "The departure" was us leaving... though I returned last year (and left again earlier this year - a blessing in disguise, as it turned out.
@JustinHicksINC@laizar27 This is 100% false. Keith and I both left with Rick when the site was sold. We were offered to stay on board (though never a financial offer submitted) but declined. I went to The Ring, and Keith wound up there once Turki bought the site/pub and Rick ran shop.
@BKNETS417@EverythingBoxi2@hatebhar23@SIChrisMannix Would be a good opportunity to use parade to PROMOTE the upcoming fight. I get the tradition of doing it on the eve of the parade... but it's NYC. Not like it's the only weekend of the year Boricuas are in town.
🚨 BREAKING: Have confirmed that the IBF has (once again) relieved Jai Opetaia of his cruiserweight title reign.
Stay of execution was granted through March 19, afer which point Board of Directors voted to declare the title vacant.
@Chris120778 Yeah, was a shame. ProBox shows usually carry much stronger matchmaking (last Friday the perfect example). Tonight was a festive atmosphere but nothing more.
@BrunchBoxing@izdatyofaceee@EzRawBoxing@n1njaturtle99 The truly sad part is how many in the media blatantly chose a side (and it certainly wasn't Oscar's/Golden Boy's) in all this, without letting the facts speak for themselves.
@phillikesfights Bivol has a fight scheduled. That's usually the rule of thumb as the exception to inactivity (RING, TBRB and I believe ESPN have same/similar policy)
Full story to come on this, but IBF officials also revealed that the collected sanctioning fees for #OpetaiaGlanton were returned on March 7, one day prior to fight night despite on-air insistence to the contrary.
🚨 Update on Jai Opetaia's title status:
IBF is still reviewing matter, which means his cruiserweight title remains intact. Jai's post-fight speech stressing his commitment to pursuing undisputed has prompted sanctioning body to further investigate matter.
“In fact, the words “belt” and “placement” were not included in the email at all, contrary to what certain members of the boxing media have suggested in reports stating that they were granted access to the email sent by Peoples," per IBF officials.
IBF also vehemently denies claims that its withdrawn sanctioning was due to feeling disrespected over the placement of the belt during Friday's press conference.
