🚨| Brendan Allen joined me ahead of his #UFCVegas118 co-main event fight this weekend against Edmen Shahbazyan.
Allen says he’s excited to compete again after an 8-month layoff. He says he expects Edmen to be the most motivated he has ever been due to the caliber of the fight.
Allen also says that Edmen is “more nervous” than he is and win or lose Edmen “knows it’s going to be a fight”.
Allen doesn’t take any of the Sean Strickland smack talk personally, but he does say after beating Edmen (Strickland’s training parter) that he absolutely wants a rematch for the title against Sean Strickland. Allen says “I’ll give Sean the f*cking business if we fight again.”
Allen also says he feels Khamzat Chimaev deserves a rematch against Strickland for the title, but he would be a fool not to accept a title fight against Strickland if offered instead of Khamzat getting the rematch. “It’s more money in my pocket for my family”.
Ahead of this fight Allen spent time training with one half of Saturday’s main event Belal Muhammad, even doing this interview from Belal’s basement. After praising Belal as a human and training partner, Allen admits “I don’t want anyone to headline over me other than Belal Muhammad.”
Amongst many other things, I asked Allen his thoughts on Reinier de Ridder moving up to light heavyweight. Allen says, “I think I’m definitely the reason” for RDR moving up a weight class. Allen doesn’t think the move up will help RDR as Allen “never thought he was that good”.

Belal Muhammad says Ben Askren’s story is “a miracle” and that it’s “an honor” to welcome him back to combat sports at their upcoming RAF match.
Belal says it’s also a lose lose scenario for himself. “Who cares brotha, boo me.”
Brendan Allen says winning the UFC title is a goal of his due to his competitive nature, but says fighting is really just a means for him to fund his ultimate goal.
He says he’s already living his dream with his family, his property, and by setting up a good life for his kids. Based. #UFCVegas118
🤔 Usman Nurmagomedov says Conor McGregor will probably NOT make it to his fight with Max Holloway, but if he turns up and wins then it’s good for MMA.

Song Yadong says he trained with Deiveson Figueirdo for his last fight camp. They bumped into each other in the hallway today and Yadong says it was “like seeing an old friend” and that during face-offs he felt like they were “two tourists just showing up to take photos”.
Yadong also went on to say that none of this matters and that come Saturday night, they are opponents and Yadong is focused on finding a finish. #UFCMacau
😅 Weird one at #UFCMacau media day. This was in Chinese so it’s possible something got lost in translation, but as far as I could tell Zhang Mingyang was asked why he has been walking around wearing sunglasses this week.
Mingyang first said that he liked the glasses and the way they fit his face. He then took a pause before telling the translators that this next part doesn’t need to be translated.
Mingyang then went on to say that he hasn’t been sleeping well lately and isn’t well rested. He said he might look a bit tired so his brother suggested wearing the sunglasses to make him look more energetic.
The translator then only repeated the part about Mingyang liking the sunglasses and fitting his face nicely. No mention of Mingyang revealing he hasn’t been well rested lately, per his request.
Am I missing something or is this odd?
