Reconciliation starts with shutting up and listening to opinions that you may not agree with and reflecting on why there is such deep mistrust of SL gov. and the Sinhala people.

The #sexist remarks of the @NPPSLOfficial candidate is unacceptable as is the responsibility placecd on @Dr_HariniA to be the one to call him out. The hypocrisy lies in #advocating for #gender #equality but implicitly suggesting that only #women should take action to achieve it.

Unequal responsibility is always placed on #women; the very group impacted by the bias to school men/call out #sexism and #mysogyny. On the one hand this demand implicitly suggests that sexism is a "women's issue," when, in fact, it's a societal issue that we all need to address.

By placing the onus on women to confront #sexism, we reinforce #genderstereotypes that label men as "neutral" or "unaffected" by sexism and women as responsible for handling it. This is itself a form of sexism, as it limits both genders by prescribing certain behaviors and roles.
