“The amount of time we spent grading and the amount of time the kids spent on homework - we thought that maybe we could shift that time into other forms of assessment and practice.”

Time To Be Innovative: Bring On The Skills Based Classroom…Today we have a 12:15 spotlight lunch session at the Illinois Principals Association Conference in Peoria. Can’t wait to share our ideas with educational leaders throughout the state.
Friday was “Math Fun Day” in our department. All math classes were suspended and classrooms were transformed into math games/experiments labs. Students chose between dice games, making paper airplanes, catapult designs and other activities.
100% participation and engagement.
We ended the summer with a little outing for the senior football players. Thank you to the National Guard for taking care of us today after working them out last week at the field. I appreciate your help in making us a better team! Special thanks to Coach Tuttle for coordinating!
We approach this topic with our Skills Assessments. These are short, formative assessments that also act as summative data to guide instruction in our classrooms. Read more below!

. @KeenanClark3 and I spent months building the Skills Based Classroom. We have 3 semesters of data showing this helps kids learn. Change can be scary, but change can also lead to great things.
Here are the top 5 players who create the most wins for their team every time they play ⬇️
1. Xavier Johnson - 0.27 WCr/GP
2. Jonathan Mogbo - 0.25 WCr/GP
3. Terrence Shannon - 0.24 WCr/GP
4. Hunter Dickinson - 0.24 WCr/GP
5. Zach Edey - 0.24 WCr/GP
For reference, Zach Edey ranked 1st in our WCr/GP stat with 0.26 wins created per game played last season.
Our WCr/GP is calculated through using our player efficiency data to calculate their role in expected team performance.
