Being filled with the Spirit is not just a one-time moment. There is fresh filling available. Every day, we come back to the well. Holy Spirit, fill me again.
If you don’t know where to start with the Holy Spirit, start where Jesus told the disciples to start: wait. Hungry. Surrendered. With your yes on the Lord.
Jesus told the disciples to wait until they received power from the Holy Spirit. Waiting is hard because it forces me to admit I cannot do the mission of Jesus without the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit of God hovered over what was formless and void in Genesis 1. I think He still does. He hovers over the places in us that need the life of Christ.
At times we treat Christianity like a buffet line & the Holy Spirit like an optional add-on to our lives. But He’s not optional, He is essential. Jesus said it was better for Him to go because the Helper would come. That should probably make us rethink how much we need Him.
There is no real glory to be found in trying to prove that we can do it on our own. Our call is to submit ourselves to the Glorious One and allow every victory to be a testament to the glory of His strength working in us.
