I didn't do this when I started on X...so I think it's time.
Here is my story:
I am a husband to a beautiful wife, a father to two amazing daughters.
I own Oliver Investments LLC, where I am a Financial Adviser.
I love helping people on their financial journey ๐
I did have a client tell me the other day that this feels very similar to him.
I think there is always going to be a burst at the end to any new "bubble"... the big question is... are we half way through blowing this bubble up... or are we about to burst...
People like Dalio seem to think they know.. but know one knows.
If there is one thing I know for certain... it's that I certainly don't know everything. ๐
On a side note... it is amazing though.. how much easier it is to see a solution in someone else's life... and yet so hard most times to see the right answer in our own life.
It is why we need someone who truly has our best intentions in our corner. Someone who can help cut through the noise.
@darrelltalksfi Yah, this is what the Millionaire Next Door and Baby Steps Millionaires proves statistically... it is how most millionaires are made.
Sure, a ton of small business owners have also.. but social media would make you think it is the only way.
Yah if they unfollow you with a take like that, then doesnt that only prove your point about the over hype and it being cult like.
We should be able to have different risk tolerances and different opinions about investments and still get along.
You are retired in 40s... must have be doing something right.. haha.. they might want to listen.
You've shown people how to do.. not just told them how to do it.. but often the loudest people that everyone listens to, aren't the people who are actually living the life. Just the way it goes. ๐
A big concern for me, as a dad now, is how do I teach my kids the same lessons all while giving them a better upbringing.
I don't want them to go through the same hardships, but also do not want them to become spoiled...
It's hard to balance it sometimes. But I think a balance is key... holding them responsible for chores and tasks and teaching them how to responsibly manage money..
We also have always lived well below our means, which helps.
Its a real concern of mine.
@bryanhasling@FranWalsh73@MediaKing Mine drops even more than that at that level!! ๐
This conversation is getting quite funny on here.. really shows people are ready to fight even when they have no idea what they are fighting about.
There is one thing certain in life...
Just when you think you have it figured out, you either change your mind..
Or something big changes it for you.
Either way, this road ain't a straight easy path.
So different in ways, and yet so similar in ways to my story...
I had mom and dad at home.. but provided for myself at a young age. My dad told me at 10 when I had job raking blueberries, that it would be my responsibility to pay for all things that weren't my food and roof over head.
So when my class mates were taking their pens apart to make a device to spit little pieces of paper at each other, I would just shake my head and think "I bet they dont have to buy their own pens and paper like I do" ๐
My first car was paid in cash by me, my drivers Ed, my car insurance, all me... clothes, and all toiletries same...
And when it came time to go to college, I had to figure that out on my own..
I once sent a college professor a letter asking him to refund me for the class he canceled... you take it serious when you paid for it yourself. ๐
These experiences made us who we are Jackie! ๐ช
