Meet Christoforos Laskos: a dedicated doctor serving central Tzoumerka, a father of six, and a devout Orthodox Christian. But his care goes far beyond standard medicine.
As a trained Byzantine chanter, his voice echoes through monasteries and brings profound comfort directly to the bedsides of his patients—sharing the triumphant and ancient proclamation, “Χριστὸς ἀνέστη” (Christ is risen).
His journey took an incredible turn during his university years when he discovered heavy metal and realized it shared a profound connection with the ancient hymns of his childhood.
The result? DYNAMIS—a powerful musical project fusing Byzantine chant with heavy metal.
To Christoforos, these two seemingly different worlds unite under one undeniable truth: Power. The power of sound, and the power of faith.
So, Denzel Washington wants black people to represent their culture, but when I, as a Greek, want accuracy in movies about Greek history, mythology and culture, I’m a bad person and racist. Interesting.
Sorry, the Great Schism between the Latin West (Catholics) and the Greek East (Orthodox) will remain. We don't want another "1204" betrayal by our brothers in favor of Islam.
On 25 March, Greece does not simply mark independence.
It marks the moment it refused to disappear.
Nations do not disappear when they are conquered.
They disappear when they begin to think, speak, and remember in the language of those who conquered them.
Greece is the opposite case.
Empires did not fail to control Greece.
They failed to replace it.
Language endured.
Memory endured.
Identity endured.
And eventually, the state followed.
25 March is not only a national day.
It is a decision point in history.
Continuity over adaptation.
Memory over convenience.
Identity over survival on someone else’s terms.
This is not only a Greek story.
It is also ours.
The Jewish people did not return to history.
They refused to exit it.
Across centuries, without sovereignty, without power,
the same elements were guarded until power could be rebuilt.
In the Eastern Mediterranean, this is not heritage.
It is doctrine.
There is no margin for forgetting who you are.
Those who forget, disappear.
Those who remember, and organise power around that memory, remain.
From Israel.
