Good teammate
I present to you, the most hated man in professional sports
Just some random thoughts:
- The Spurs are so good. I think Castle & Harper are stars. I think Vassell and Champagnie are Championship necessary role players. Wemby is Wemby.
- Spurs over the Knicks in 6?
- Injuries suck. They happen. They mattered a lot.
- Chet stuff can’t go ignored. He looked timid this series. I have no words for tonight. idk, man.
- The Shai narrative throughout the Playoffs felt gross. It wasn’t fair to him as a player or as a man, IMO. Honestly shocked how many media members I respect bought into the engagement baiting.
- No doubt in my mind this team is a top tier contender next year.
- So impressed with the character of this team. They could have responded verbally and physically in uNeThiCaL ways. And they didn’t. I like cheering for good dudes.
- Thunder up. Always.
Shai this season:
— 31.1 PPG | 6.6 APG | 66.5 TS%
— Best player on best team
— 2nd in points
— 1st in plus/minus
— All-Star starter
— 1st Team All-NBA
— MVP
All-time season.
we really got Spurs-Thunder in the WCF and it went 7. as hoops fans, from an objective standpoint, this was the dream, right? we had an absolute classic G1, and it's been a back-and-forth, ultra-physical chess match ever since. and here we are: Wemby and his squad vs. Shai and the defending champs on a Saturday night playing for everything. it really doesn't get any better.
shoutout to everyone who had a hand in taking the shine off this series, forcing the focus to what it's been the last week-plus. the big aggregator accounts. the engagement farmers. the twitter algorithm. so much of the national media. that gambling company. the guy who compiled that original viral video of Shai falling five times in one game. and of course Fall% Tom, for his groundbreaking work in bringing to life what will surely prove a revolutionary basketball metric.
congrats on the engagement, y'all!
in all seriousness, though, I rest assured in knowing the real ones have enjoyed this. and I sincerely hope everyone can enjoy the game tonight. these don't come around very often!
NEW ANGLE OF WHAT WEMBY TOLD THE SPURS PLAYERS:
“Hard fouls”
Can’t believe people like this guy, genuinely there is so much wrong with this, and it’s getting almost no attention because it doesn’t fit the narrative. If Lu Dort said this it would be front page news all around the world.
@ClayWeldon3 No way you’ve watched the series and think it’s “normal” defense lmao. Both teams are playing physical. You have 7 games to win 4 times. Whoever can do it is obviously the better team. Fuck out of here with the excuses. Yall have every opportunity just like we do. Good luck.
@ClayWeldon3 And I’m not disagreeing with it, but when everybody acts like OKC is the only team in history to do it is hilarious. Everybody does it. Every elite scorer in NBA history has been able to get to the line whenever they want, but it’s a problem now because OKC wins lol
@Jake_ward20 Free-throw totals don’t erase whistle manipulation. The issue isn’t just how many free throws OKC shoots — it’s how they get them and how it affects the game. Snapping heads back, falling on minimal contact, jumping sideways into defenders, and selling every bump is terrible
League begged for years for this type of Ethical basketball when the Warriors were running the league. Now we got it, and because they’re beating everybody’s favorite team they hate it.
@ClayWeldon3 Spurs have shot more free throws this series and Wemby shot the ball 10 times inside the arc last game, but sure we’re winning because we “flop” and “weaponize” the whistle😂
This shits pathetic as fuck. You’re “Alien” only took 10 shots inside in the arc, but mfs crying n shit. OKC down their 2 best ball handlers and still put belt to ass man stop it.
"The way they guard, how physical they are, we don't get that same luxury to be able to play as physical on the other end at times.”
— Stephon Castle.

whenever OKC loses, you never hear about the lack of calls from their side. whenever they win, the opposing team has this crying shit in their arsenal cause they know the public opinion will slide with them regardless. shit pathetic as hell
"Does [Shai] sell calls sometimes? Absolutely, but so do 287 other players in the NBA sell calls... When they weren't a championship contender... nobody was complaining. They're complaining now because they're winning."
Mike Breen on SGA.

Wemby went out of his way to bump into Chet as time was called in the 1st q. The Thunder chuckled. Wemby yelled at teammates during 3rd q huddle. Didn’t work. Wemby told backups to take somebody out. OKC will remember.. Then Wemby ducked the media. Baby behavior.
