I paid a visit to the Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi railway station, a major transport hub connecting Kyiv with cities and communities across Ukraine.
Here, cooperation between @UNODC and Ukrainian Railways is building and enhancing the capacity of authorities to screen for and intercept illicit firearms and other weaponry, including grenades and munitions, as well as other dangerous materials - helping to prevent their trafficking and diversion.
I also met with Ukrainian Railways Chairman Oleksandr Pertsovskyi to discuss how we can deepen this cooperation, strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s railway sector, and help keep personnel, passengers, cargo and critical infrastructure safe.

The fight against drugs and crime often starts with the people on the frontline. At @UNODC we take seriously the task of building the capacities for these roles.
Had the opportunity to meet law enforcement officers from Kenya and Tanzania, who were under training at the @UNODC laboratory on how to identify substances quickly and handle them safely, using new testing equipment.
We thank these frontline experts who are working every day to keep dangerous substances off the streets and to prevent drugs from crossing borders.
Giving people on the frontline the right skills and tools is critical to delivering security and safety for individuals, communities and to our collective security.
Meet Frey, a survivor of human trafficking.
