"But I can't train 2-3 hours a day, I'm not training for the Olympics!"
The thing that must be understood..
Low intensity training volume is not only central to endurance performance. Low intensity training volume is central to long-term health!
The current predicament...
Person wakes up, rushes to car & spends 30min to an hour with cortisol elevated, blood glucose elevated, lactate elevated, getting stressed out driving to work. 😡
Person arrives at work, sits down for 8hrs + and values of all of the above markers only go up from there!
Person is aware of the importance of health and fitness, so person drives to the gym, pushes the intensity of an hour long workout that only sends all of the above even higher!
Person drives home, eats a quick convenient meal, & is surprised how hard it is to get good sleep!😵💫
Person begins the pattern all over the next day.
Our system is not built to survive this pattern. This pattern repeated year after year will lead to very poor health at a very early point in your life. 🤒
Fitting a large amount of movement into the day to modulate cortisol, to modulate blood glucose, to modulate blood lactate is not a luxury, it is what your body needs to function properly. It is how it/you were built to live!
And, with that, I'm off to toodle around on the bike for 3 hours. 🚴
/end manifesto.
V kombinaci s její ostrou "vůní" mi to subjektivně občas uleví.

The best endurance training is sustainable, almost boring.
And that's the key.
It's how I have trained for every distance from sprint to Ironman.
Here's the foundational principles to sustainable training:
1. Build your endurance engine
A great endurance engine has all the gears. Simplified terms are better than complex numbers and analytics.
Think:
• Easy
• Steady
• Mod-hard
• Fast
• Max
You can dabble in each of them to test them out. But the bulk of your training should be easy and steady.
The hard, fast and max should be used sparingly.
This will build a complete endurance engine.
2. Think you recovery as an on-demand service
Your recover should be dynamic as opposed to rigid - exactly what you need in this moment.
and I am NOT referring to a massage gun or compression boots.
It's about learning the difference between when your body needs rest and when it needs loading.
You can use metrics like HRV, soreness and motivation to clue you in on what your body needs.
When it comes to adding recovery there are 4 key habits (not gadgets) to focus on:
1. Load adjustment
2. Stress management
3. Sleep and rest
4. Nutrition and fuelling
Dial these in before buying the latest gadget.
(Bookmark this so you don't forget it)
3. Roll consistent weeks
Build an ideal week for you and learn how to roll it consistently.
Make it as easy as possible to get your training in each week.
Open a digital calendar and block off your regular training blocks. The times you can always train.
Fix your training times but adjust what the training looks like depending on your metrics (see dynamic recovery above).
4. Supplement with strength (And other forms of training)
Most triathletes and runners will benefit from a little bit of strength training through the season to maintain your body.
You can also supplement your SBR training with mobility, breath work and more social training (group runs and pick-up basketball).
All of this can fit into your sustainable training plan.
5. Have a long-term vision
Take your long term goal and turn it into a series of short term goals.
Sprint > 70.3 > IM
Marathon > Century Ride > IM
Sprint > Faster sprint > world qualifying sprint
Build on longer time horizons and watch things compound.
Play the long game
6. (Bonus) Have fun
Enjoy the process of training for endurance.
Another coach once told me, "we stick to things we enjoy".
If you're not enjoying your training it might be worth a change to something more sustainable for you and your current phase of life.
Don't beat yourself up if the weeks are not perfect.
Enjoy the little moments that pop up while training and racing.
Bottom line...
• Build the engine
• Use dynamic recovery
• Roll consistent weeks
• Supplement with strength (and more)
• Have a long-term vision and focus
• Have fun!!
Happy (sustainable) Training!

They bided their time as Vail cratered WAM. Made it impossible for WAM to launch. Then Vail said it was @CoastMtnTrail's fault just to be extra assholes. Then UTMB/Ironman swoops in, steals the idea. It's even the same weekend. So transparent. Fuck that. Fuck Vail, UTMB & Ironman

We aren’t.
Almost the whole of Europe is breathing toxic air - The Guardian's research together with an association of scientists
It turned out that the concentration of solids in the air exceeds the WHO allowable standard by two times. The research shows that just 2% of Europe's population has access to clean air.
The Guardian has created an interactive map that shows the most affected regions of the continent: https://t.co/XcRgm0EnGA
