The CHSAA sends prayers and condolences to the family and many friends of Lou Carnesecca.
Coach Carnesecca was a product of the CHSAA, having graduated from St. Ann’s Academy in 1943 and then returning to the school as their basketball coach after graduating from St. John’s University. He won the CHSAA City Championship in 1952 and then again in 1958 after St. Ann’s moved to Queens and became Archbishop Molloy High School. After winning that championship, Coach Carnesecca returned to St. John’s as an assistant to Joe Lapchick. He was succeeded at Molloy by Jack Curran.
Coach Carnesecca was always a great supporter of the CHSAA. He recruited countless players from the league and graciously made the gym that now bears his name available whenever the CHSAA needed to use it.
Coach Carnesecca was inducted into many Halls of Fame, but the CHSAA is very proud that he is a member of the CHSAA Hall of Fame as well.
Requiescat in pace.

“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” —LUKE 11:9–10 🦋
Greatly honored and humbled to be inducted into the HSBN South Florida Baseball Hall of Fame this past week. To be mentioned in a group that includes Ed Waters, Pat McQuaid and Fred Burnside as well as so many other high level coaches, colleagues and friends is truly special.
