Also, I made the rare mistake of venturing into some of the comments here, and boy oh boy, some of those folks are just absolute LOSERS.
Just caricatures of themselves. Folks cosplaying as “sports fans” looking for their next culture war cudgel. What a miserable way to live.
From the time she was drafted, a lot of Fever fans have made cruel comments about Raven Johnson. Raven is a team player and always plays with maximum effort. I’m happy to see her do well.
@GrzzCmpnyMane Cats are top tier pets.
Make sure he gets annual vet checkups (cats are masters at hiding illness). And ensure he drinks plenty of water & eats wet food regularly (vital for feline kidney health) and he will be your best friend for many, many years.
@trendyhoopstars Everything Caitlin Clark is attempting to accomplish in her WNBA career one day, A’ja Wilson has already accomplished, tenfold.
Basketball is a team sport. CC is not bigger than the team. Her fans are being messy & weird instead of enjoying the talent of Team USA.
Longtime “SportsCenter” anchor Linda Cohn questioned whether A’ja Wilson has some level of insecurity toward Caitlin Clark and whether that could be a reason she isn’t playing in the FIBA World Cup.
And I guess the question we have is: What exactly would A’ja Wilson be insecure about?
Is it basketball-related? It can’t be. Caitlin Clark is a zero-time champion at the high school, collegiate and, currently, WNBA level. Wilson is a high school state champion, led South Carolina to its first national championship and helped build a dynasty with the Las Vegas Aces, where she has won three WNBA championships. Oh, and she’s the only player in league history with four MVPs.
So clearly, it isn’t about basketball accomplishments. Are we talking about off the court? That doesn’t make much sense either. Clark’s most notable appearances away from basketball have largely involved golf. Not exactly sure why that would be something Wilson is sitting around feeling insecure about.
So is it the fans and attention? When you look at the fans Clark has, who exactly would want that? And obviously Wilson isn’t going to receive the exact same type of attention Clark does. She has never been pushed and pumped by the media at the rate Clark has, nor has she ever found herself at the center of the type of racially charged rivalry that has followed Clark throughout her professional career.
It’s a disservice to Caitlin Clark when so much of the conversation surrounding her relies on tearing down other players.
And it’s incredibly disrespectful to players like Wilson when trusted sports-media figures throw around narratives like this about someone who has spent years building one of the greatest résumés in basketball. It only adds fuel to the baseless jealousy narrative and gives Clark’s fans more red meat to feed off of, reinforcing this idea that Clark is somehow a damsel in distress who needs to be defended from other players. That, in turn, creates even more hostility toward players who are portrayed as jealous, bitter or somehow threatened by her when there is no actual basis for those claims.
Eventually, you start to realize that there are far too many paid fans disguised as media members.
At some point, a line has to be drawn. Enough is enough.
@_BigCurt_ When I was a high school teacher, my policy was up to 2 students can leave at a time (no asking, just take the bathroom pass). But, I did have a student go meet up to fight someone in a different building & their parents blamed me for not knowing where they were 😩
Jon Ossoff Gets Personal:
“I’ve got two little girls at home; Eva is four and Lila is one. Soon enough, they’ll learn there are microplastics in human blood and breast milk, that toxic ‘forever chemicals’ are in half the country’s drinking water, and that the butterflies are dying off.”
“We’ve amassed enough firepower to end the world 1,000 times over, but we can’t summon the will to guarantee healthcare and pre-K.”
“I refuse to leave my girls a world as dark, dangerous, and cruel as this one threatens to become. When Eva asks why I let it happen, I’m determined to answer truthfully: I didn’t.”
Psaki: Why did you invoke Natalie Harp?
Ossoff: We’re in wartime. The commander in chief has mired us in this geopolitical disaster. People have lost their lives. Our naval logistics are frayed. The global energy system is in crisis. And he retreats into this bubble of West Wing aides who are his security blanket to make him feel good about himself, to reassure him that he’s doing a great job, to help him while he designs his new ballroom. And he adorns the Oval Office in gold and picks the interior decorations on this new luxury flying palace he received from a foreign prince.
When every single minute of every single day, what the president of the United States should be doing is bearing his most solemn burden of care for the sailors and Marines and aviators and all service members deployed on his orders on the basis of his lies to this disaster in the Middle East
@LilHulkQ@DIYolie GA is one of the most racially/ethnically diverse states in the U.S. & ranks in top-3 for Black professionals. He had to go out his way to form a team with zero racial diversity. Not even a token biracial or racially ambiguous person.
If there's one thing the pandemic taught us, it's that Americans are staggeringly selfish. Not just the meat-and-potatoes "don't want to share" selfish. I'm talking total apocalyptic, "I will let you die rather than inconvenience myself" selfish.
