@Kouvaau@Wallagootwobily@Thomo_Grant Never seen footy before this rule, I’m intrigued how it would work but honestly don’t think it adds to the modern game.
@Wallagootwobily@Thomo_Grant Completely agree the interpretations change mid game. Not sure if your positive or negative towards between the arc but feels relatively black and white. The protected area and stand rule feels the most poorly and random adjudication and has such big punishments when enforced.
@Wallagootwobily@Thomo_Grant I don’t think it adds to the game is my point, why add a rule to help fix the umpiring but the players have to tap and kick the ball forward to progress it? Agree with your point, we’re over thinking the rules, trying to fix things by adapting others.
@Wallagootwobily@Thomo_Grant There wouldn’t be a ball up, all tackles result in holding the ball. Why would you pick the ball up in front of your own goal, if you were to get tackled it would be a goal conceded
@SpallieraL@Wallagootwobily@Thomo_Grant Don’t mind that to be honest, I agree with the initial statement from Grant to create as much black and white parameters as possible. I think this rule could work but just want the AFL to think about the repercussions to other areas of the game before implementing rules randomly.
@Wallagootwobily@Thomo_Grant You’d be happy for a grand final to be decided on a player picking the ball up in front of goal tackled immediately and pinned to him? No prior sounds like a good idea untill it’s implemented in high stakes games but wouldn’t put it past the AFL adding a new rule without thinking
@hbrooks_coach So many issues with VAR. It hasn’t added anything to the game, just highlighted the inconsistencies. I’d rather trust the ref on the pitch and live with the decision. Slow-mo and extra angles don’t change the fact football will always have grey areas.
@ArdenStReview Why not an A? He was a really important addition to the side, offered the run, carry and metres gained that we’ve been needing alongside mckercher at half back.
