@PeterDee67 @PeterDee67 I think Dad's Army made Jimmy strongly associated with comedy in the public eye (he felt "pigeonholed") but before that he had shown he could do serious work too, particularly in repertory and TV drama. Some of the cast did break the stereotype to varying degrees.

Working on Jimmy's biography has reminded me how fragile memories can be. Over time, people pass on, photographs and personal papers are lost or quietly disappear. It feels so important to preserve what remains while I still can. What side of Jimmy are you most curious about?
